How to Install the SQDV Operator Adapter
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the SQDV Operator Adapter for Square 'D' Bulletin 9422 mechanisms in Hoffman enclosures.
Estimated time: 1h
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Plate gasket, Nylon washers
- Install the handle return spring
Insert the long hooked end of the handle return spring through the hole in the mounting plate. Ensure the short hook is free for later attachment to the rod.
- Mount the mounting plate
Position the mounting plate with the spring in place and the plate gasket attached to the inside of the enclosure. Secure it using four screws and four nylon washers.
- Assemble the operating handle
Attach the Square 'D' operating handle to the mounting plate. Omit the cap screw and lockwasher that fit into the bottom hole of the operating handle.
- Install the slide arm
Place the slide arm over the projecting part of the handle assembly with the notch facing the door opening. Insert the shoulder collar through the slide arm and secure it with a long cap screw and lockwasher.
- Adjust the slide arm
Attach the bottom of the slide arm to the offset arm of the lock release mechanism using flat washers, lockwashers, and hex nuts. Do not tighten until adjustments are made.
- Adjust the safety lock release mechanism
Check the adjustment of the roller bracket and ensure the door latch hits the latch stop when closed. Adjust as necessary. Then, adjust the length of the slide arm so the safety lock releases just before the master door is fully latched.
- Attach the door catch
Install the door catch to the tapped spacer on the door using the provided screws and lockwashers. This prevents the door from opening when the switch is in the 'ON' position.
- Drill and tap holes
Follow Square 'D' instructions to drill and tap holes in the panel for fuse clips.
- Mount the switch or circuit breaker
Install the switch or circuit breaker according to Square 'D' instructions. Cut the operating rod as specified.
