- Operator adapters include an adapter plate and additional components needed to interlock the master door with the disconnect operating mechanism
- Installation instructions are included with each operator adapter
- Each brand and type of disconnect requires a different operator adapter
- A 400A (or greater) disconnect switch and 600A (or greater) circuit breaker require the large handle

How to Install the ECHC Operator Adapter
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the ECHC Operator Adapter for Eaton Cutler-Hammer C371 Disconnects.

Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Nylon washers, Lockwashers, Hex nuts, Gasket
- Install the mounting plate
Secure the mounting plate and gasket inside the enclosure behind the rectangular opening using four screws and four nylon washers.
- Assemble the handle mechanism
Attach the Cutler-Hammer Flex Shaft handle mechanism and cable toggle mechanism to the mounting plate, omitting the cap screw and lockwasher for the bottom hole.
- Adjust the slide arm
If necessary, cut 2.5 inches off the bottom end of the slide arm before installation. Then, install the slide arm over the defeater part of the handle assembly with the notch facing the door opening.
- Secure the slide arm
Insert the shoulder collar through the oval slot in the slide arm and secure it with a long cap screw and lockwasher into the bottom mounting hole of the handle mechanism.
- Connect the slide arm to the lock release mechanism
Attach the bottom of the slide arm to the offset arm of the lock release mechanism using two flat washers, two lockwashers, and two hex nuts. Do not tighten yet.
- Adjust the safety lock release mechanism
Check and adjust the roller bracket on the enclosure to ensure the door latch hits the latch stop when closed. Adjust the slide arm length so the safety lock releases just before the master door is fully latched.
- Install the door catch
Attach the door catch to the tapped spacer on the door using two screws and lockwashers to prevent the door from opening when the handle mechanism is in the 'ON' position.
- Assemble the linkage
Connect the C-H linkage between the outer handle assembly and the toggle mechanism as per the Cutler-Hammer Flex Shaft instructions.
- Drill and tap holes
Drill and tap holes in the panel according to Eaton Cutler-Hammer instructions for proper placement.
- Mount the circuit breaker
Finally, mount the circuit breaker and actuator mechanism following the Eaton Cutler-Hammer Flex Shaft instructions.
