Cookie Policy

Last updated: July 2, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Gross Automation, LLC ("we," "us," "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our Website at https://www.grossautomation.com and its subdomains (including events.grossautomation.com, used for event registration). Read it alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly how we handle your personal information.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make sites work, to remember preferences, and to help site owners understand how their site is used. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are "first-party" cookies; cookies set by other services embedded on a site are "third-party" cookies.

Some technologies we use are not technically cookies but serve a similar purpose — for example, data stored in your browser's local storage. We use the word "cookies" loosely throughout this policy to cover those as well.

Categories of cookies we use

1. Essential cookies

Strictly necessary for the Website to work. They handle session state, your shopping cart, and — importantly — your recorded cookie preferences. These cannot be disabled.

ga:consent
Purpose: Stores your cookie consent preferences
Provider: grossautomation.com
Type: Local storage
Duration: Persistent (until you clear it)

persist:root
Purpose: Stores shopping cart and in-page preferences
Provider: grossautomation.com
Type: Local storage

ga_requires_consent

ga_rec_session
Purpose: Anonymous session identifier used to record product ratings and prevent duplicate submissions
Provider: grossautomation.com
Type: HTTP cookie
Duration: 1 year

2. Attribution identifiers (first-party, non-advertising)

When you arrive at our site from an AI assistant or search tool (for example, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, or a search engine), we record a lightweight identifier so we can measure which referral paths bring us customers. These identifiers are used only by Gross Automation and are not shared with advertising networks.

llm_sid
Purpose: Session-scoped identifier for AI referral attribution
Provider: grossautomation.com
Type: HTTP cookie
Duration: Session

llm_vid
Purpose: Visitor-scoped identifier for AI referral attribution
Provider: grossautomation.com
Type: HTTP cookie
Duration: 1 year

_ga_first_touch
Purpose: Remembers the campaign or referral source that first brought you to our site, so a later inquiry is credited to it (set only when you arrive with campaign parameters, and only where analytics consent is granted or not required)
Provider: grossautomation.com
Type: HTTP cookie
Duration: 90 days

3. Analytics cookies (loaded only with your consent in regulated regions)

With your consent — or automatically, if you are browsing from a region that does not require explicit consent — we use analytics cookies from two providers to understand how visitors use our Website, identify issues, and improve the experience.

Google Analytics 4 (via Google Tag Manager)

Google Analytics helps us understand traffic patterns, popular pages, and how visitors navigate the site. Our Google Tag Manager container identifier is GTM-KN7PPLM8. Our GA4 property identifier is G-L2KX1PT0GT.

_ga
Purpose: Distinguishes unique visitors
Provider: .grossautomation.com
Type: HTTP cookie
Duration: 2 years

_ga_[ID]
Purpose: Maintains session state
Provider: .grossautomation.com
Type: HTTP cookie
Duration: 2 years

We have disabled Google Signals and enabled ads data redaction in our GA4 configuration, so Google Analytics data we collect is not used to build advertising profiles.

Microsoft Clarity

Clarity provides heatmaps and session recordings that Gross Automation staff use internally to troubleshoot usability issues on the Website. Clarity automatically masks form inputs and visible personal information in recordings — we see clicks, scrolls, and screen regions, not what a visitor typed.

We have configured Clarity to run without its cross-session identifiers. As of April 2026 we have explicitly disabled the Microsoft MUID cookie (a shared identifier used across Bing, LinkedIn, and MSN) by removing the advertising-network consent signal that previously authorized it. Clarity session data remains first-party and is used only for troubleshooting.

_clck
Purpose: Distinguishes sessions within Clarity
Provider: .grossautomation.com
Type: HTTP cookie
Duration: 1 year (may be shortened by our configuration)

_clsk
Purpose: Connects page views into a session
Provider: .grossautomation.com
Type: HTTP cookie
Duration: 1 day

Do we use advertising cookies?

No. We do not run advertising on our Website and do not use advertising or remarketing cookies for ad targeting. We do not share visitor data with advertising networks.

In April 2026, during a privacy audit, we discovered and removed several legacy advertising tags that had been added to our site by an outside consultant whose engagement had ended. These included a LinkedIn Insight Tag on general pages and a Google Ads remarketing container on campaign landing pages. Both have been removed from the site, and the associated tracking identifiers (including Microsoft MUID) have been disabled.

How can I control cookies?

When you first visit our Website on a desktop browser from a region that requires consent (including the EU, UK, and the US states of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and Utah), you will see a cookie consent banner. You can:

  • Accept all cookies (essential + analytics)

  • Accept essential cookies only

  • Customize your preferences via "Manage preferences"

On mobile devices we do not show the banner automatically (it interferes with small screens). Instead, analytics stays off by default in consent-required regions, and you can turn analytics cookies on or off at any time using the Cookies: Essential / All toggle in the Website footer.

On desktop, you can change your preferences at any time by clicking Cookie Settings in the Website footer.

Regardless of region, advertising-category cookies are denied by default globally on our site and cannot be enabled through the consent UI.

Browser controls

Most web browsers allow you to block or clear cookies through their settings. You can usually find these options under "Settings," "Preferences," or "Privacy." Blocking all cookies may affect how parts of our site work, especially the shopping cart and saved preferences.

Updates to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, providers, or legal obligations. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when the most recent change was made.
