How to Install the SITEL Operator Adapter

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the SITEL Operator Adapter for I-T-E MAX-FLEX™ mechanisms in Hoffman enclosures.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Drill, Multimeter

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Nylon washers, Flat washers, Lockwashers, Hex nuts, Plate gasket

  1. Install the adapter plate

Secure the adapter plate and plate gasket inside the enclosure behind the rectangular opening using four screws and four nylon washers.

  2. Assemble the operating handle

Attach the I-T-E operating handle to the mounting plate installed in step 1, omitting the cap screw and lockwasher for the bottom hole.

  3. Install the slide arm

Position the slide arm over the interlock lever of the I-T-E operating handle, ensuring the notch is toward the door opening, and secure it with the shoulder collar and long cap screw.

  4. Connect the slide arm to the lock release mechanism

Attach the bottom of the slide arm to the offset arm of the lock release mechanism using two flat washers, two lockwashers, and two hex nuts, but do not tighten yet.

  5. Adjust the slide arm assembly

Ensure the safety lock releases just before the master door is fully latched by adjusting the length of the slide arm assembly accordingly.

  6. Install the door catch

Attach the door catch to the tapped spacer on the door using two screws and lockwashers to prevent the door from opening when the I-T-E operating handle is in the 'ON' position.

  7. Drill and tap holes in the panel

Follow I-T-E instructions to drill and tap holes in the panel for the disconnect, ensuring it is within reach of the cable length being used.

  8. Install the panel

Mount the panel on the collar studs inside the enclosure.

  9. Mount the disconnect switch

Secure the disconnect switch or circuit breaker and operating mechanism on the panel according to I-T-E instructions.
