How to Install FLOOD-SEAL 95 Heat Shrink Connector Kits

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing FLOOD-SEAL 95 Heat Shrink Connector Kits, ensuring a secure and sealed electrical connection. Installation must be performed by trained installers in accordance with all applicable electrical codes and safety rules to prevent electric shock.

Tools needed:

Wire brush, Crimping tool, Wrench, Butane torch, Propane torch, 500°F electric heat gun

Supplies needed:

Heat shrink sleeve, Lug, Joint compound

  1. Prepare Conductor

    Remove the cable insulation and thoroughly wire brush the conductor to ensure a clean surface for connection.

  2. Position Heat Shrink Sleeve

    Slip the heat shrink sleeve over the cable end, ensuring it is positioned far enough back to allow for crimping the lug without obstruction.

  3. Crimp and Connect Lug

    Crimp the lug securely onto the conductor end. Wipe away any excess joint compound. Bolt the lug firmly to the contact pad on the FLOOD SEAL connector bus.

  4. Position Sleeve Over Lug

    Slip the heat shrink sleeve forward over the crimped lug until it butts against the connector bus.

  5. Shrink Sleeve at Bus End

    Apply heat evenly to shrink the sleeve at the bus end. Continue heating until a bead of mastic appears at the sleeve end, indicating a complete seal. Do not use Acetylene as a heat source.

  6. Shrink Sleeve Over Terminal Lug

    Working away from the connector bus, continue to apply heat and shrink the sleeve over the terminal lug, ensuring a tight fit.

  7. Shrink Sleeve Over Cable End

    Shrink the remainder of the sleeve over the cable end. A complete seal is achieved when a bead of mastic appears at this end.
