How to Install the FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Connector Kit for CFG 6 CS

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Thomas & Betts FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Connector Kit, Force Fit Type, specifically for CFG 6 CS conductors. Ensure proper and secure electrical connections by following these procedures.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Cable cleaning cloth, Pencil or marking tool, Cutting tool, Compression tool, Wrench or socket set

Supplies needed:

FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Rocket Sleeve, Electrical Lug, Electrical Cable (CFG 6 CS), Silicone Grease, Connector Bar, Terminal, Bus

  1. Clean the Cable

Clean the electrical cable thoroughly before proceeding with the installation of the rocket sleeve. Ensure the cable surface is free of dirt and contaminants.

  2. Pencil the Cable Insulation

Mark the cable insulation with a pencil to indicate the required strip length for the lug connection. This ensures proper conductor exposure.

  3. Identify and Select the Correct Cut Ring

Refer to the cable range shown in the raised numbers on each cut ring of the rocket sleeve. For CFG 6 CS conductors, match the conductor size to the correct ring, which is typically Cut Ring #4 as per the provided table.

  4. Cut the Tip of the Sleeve

Carefully cut off the tip of the rocket sleeve up to the selected ring. The proper cut will leave the required conductor range visible on the sleeve, ensuring a correct fit.

  5. Lubricate and Slide Sleeve onto Cable

Lubricate both ends of the rocket sleeve and the prepared cable with silicone grease. Hold the cable at an angle to the sleeve's opening. Twist the rocket sleeve while pushing it onto the cable until it is fully seated.

  6. Compress the Lug onto the Cable

Using an appropriate compression tool, securely compress the electrical lug onto the prepared end of the cable. Ensure a firm and reliable electrical connection.

  7. Slide Rocket Sleeve Over Lug

Slide the rocket sleeve over the compressed lug and onto the shoulder of the bus. Continue pushing until the rocket sleeve butts firmly against the rubber of the connector bar, creating a seal.

  8. Bolt the Terminal to the Bus

Securely bolt the terminal, with the installed lug and sleeve, to the bus. Ensure all connections are tight and meet applicable electrical codes and safety standards. WARNING: Danger of Electric Shock! Installation must be performed by trained installers.
