Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Cable cleaning solution, Cutting tool (e.g., utility knife or scissors), Crimping tool or compressor, Wrench or socket set
Supplies needed:
FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Connector Kit, Electrical cable, Silicone grease, Lug, Bus
- Clean the Cable
Clean the cable thoroughly before proceeding with the installation of the rocket sleeve to ensure proper adhesion and sealing.
- Pencil the Cable Insulation
Pencil (mark) the cable insulation as required for the specific connector and cable preparation.
- Select the Correct Cut Ring
Refer to the cable range indicated by raised numbers on each cut ring of the rocket sleeve. Match the conductor size of the cable being installed to the correct corresponding ring.
- Cut the Rocket Sleeve
Cut off the tip of the rocket sleeve up to the selected ring. The proper cut will ensure that the required conductor range is visible on the sleeve.
- Lubricate and Install Rocket Sleeve onto Cable
Lubricate both ends of the rocket sleeve and the cable with silicone grease. Hold the cable at an angle to the opening of the sleeve. Twist the rocket sleeve while pushing it onto the cable until it is fully seated.
- Compress the Lug
Compress the lug securely onto the prepared cable using an appropriate crimping tool or compressor.
- Slide Rocket Sleeve Over Lug
Slide the rocket sleeve over the compressed lug and onto the shoulder of the bus. Ensure the rocket sleeve butts firmly against the rubber of the connector bar.
- Bolt the Terminal to the Bus
Bolt the terminal (the lug with the cable) securely to the bus, ensuring a tight and reliable electrical connection.
