How to Install the FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Connector Kit
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Force Fit Connector Kit, including cable preparation, sleeve cutting, and final assembly. Installation must be performed by trained installers in accordance with all applicable electrical codes and safety rules.
Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Utility knife, Crimping tool, Wrench, Pencil
Supplies needed:
FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Rocket Sleeve, Electrical cable, Lug, Silicone grease, Connector bar, Bus, Terminal
- Clean the Cable
Clean the cable thoroughly before installing the rocket sleeve to ensure proper sealing and connection.
- Mark the Cable Insulation
Pencil the cable insulation. This mark will guide subsequent steps for proper sleeve placement or stripping.
- Select the Correct Cut Ring
Refer to the cable range shown in raised numbers on each cut ring of the rocket sleeve. Match the conductor size being installed to the correct ring for your cable.
- Cut the Rocket Sleeve Tip
Carefully cut off the tip of the rocket sleeve up to the selected ring. The proper cut will leave the required conductor range visible on the sleeve.
- Lubricate and Install Rocket Sleeve onto Cable
Lubricate both ends of the rocket sleeve and the cable with silicone grease. Hold the cable at an angle to the sleeve's opening. Twist the rocket sleeve while pushing it firmly onto the cable until it is properly seated.
- Slide Rocket Sleeve onto Lug and Bus
Slide the rocket sleeve over the lug and onto the shoulder of the bus. Continue pushing until the rocket sleeve butts against the rubber of the connector bar.
- Compress the Lug onto the Cable
Using an appropriate crimping tool, compress the lug securely onto the cable to establish a robust electrical and mechanical connection.
- Bolt the Terminal to the Bus
Bolt the terminal firmly to the bus. Ensure all connections are tight and secure to prevent loosening and ensure optimal performance.
