This guide provides step-by-step instructions for trained installers to properly install the Thomas & Betts FLOOD-SEAL 95 Heat Shrink Connector Kit, specifically for the CFG-4-HS model, ensuring a secure and sealed electrical connection in accordance with safety standards.

Tools needed:
Wire brush, Crimping tool, Wrench or socket set, Butane torch, Propane torch, 500°F electric heat gun
Supplies needed:
Cable, Heat shrink sleeve, Lug, Joint compound, FLOOD SEAL connector bus
- Prepare the Conductor
Remove the cable insulation to the appropriate length and thoroughly wire brush the conductor to ensure a clean surface for connection.
- Position the Heat Shrink Sleeve
Slip the heat shrink sleeve over the cable end, ensuring it is positioned correctly for later shrinking.
- Crimp and Connect the Lug
Crimp the lug securely onto the conductor end. Immediately wipe away any excess joint compound. Then, bolt the lug firmly to the contact pad on the FLOOD SEAL connector bus.
- Position Sleeve Over Lug
Slide the heat shrink sleeve over the crimped lug until it butts firmly against the connector bus.
- Shrink Sleeve at Bus End
Using an approved heat source (butane torch, propane torch, or 500°F electric heat gun), apply heat evenly to the sleeve at the bus end. Continue shrinking until a bead of mastic appears at the sleeve end, indicating a complete seal. Do not use Acetylene.
- Shrink Sleeve Over Terminal Lug
Working away from the connector bus, continue to shrink the sleeve evenly over the terminal lug. Move the heat source to a new position as visual shrinkage occurs.
- Shrink Sleeve Over Cable End
Finally, shrink the sleeve evenly over the cable end. The seal is complete when a bead of mastic appears at this end.
