What is the product's voltage rating?
The product is rated for 15/25kV voltage classes, with operating voltages of 8.3kV (phase-to-ground) for 15kV and 15.2kV (phase-to-ground) for 25kV.
What if my cable's OD is less than 0.565 inches?
For cables with an outside diameter less than 0.565 inches, a cable adapter 160CA-XX must be ordered.
Where can I find installation instructions for sealing kits?
For the 200ECS sealing kit, refer to installation instruction IS-459. For the 200ECSG3 kit, refer to IS-460.
What sealing kit is used for Jacketed Concentric Neutral Cables?

How to Install the 252LR Deadbreak Elbow Connector
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Elastimold 252LR Deadbreak Elbow Connector, designed to terminate UD cable with concentric neutral and semi-con shielding, connecting it to a 25kV class deadbreak bushing or accessory device.
Estimated time: 1h 30m
Tools needed:
Wrench, Crimp tool, Wire brush, Hot stick, Wire strippers, Suitable sensing device (for voltage test, if performed)
Supplies needed:
Elbow Connector Housing, Compression Lug, Probe, Probe Contact, Lubricant (supplied), Hold-down Bail, No. 14 AWG / 2.5mm copper wire, Appropriate grounding connector, HV insulated cap(s) or connector(s) (if replacing shipping covers)
- Perform Pre-Installation Checks and Safety Procedures
DANGER: All apparatus must be de-energized during installation or removal. Do not touch or move energized products. This product should be installed only by competent personnel trained in high voltage electrical equipment safety. Ensure all apparatus are installed and operated in accordance with user, local, and national work rules and electrical standards. Inspect all parts for damage, rating, and compatibility with mating parts. Check package contents for completeness. Verify elbow housing cable entrance size and compression lug size match the cable. Thread the probe into the compression lug to check for damage; replace if resistance is encountered. If supplied with protective shipping covers, remove them and replace with appropriate HV insulated caps or connectors before submerging or energizing the circuit. Ensure the unit will be bailed.
- Prepare Cable for Termination
Train the UD cable as shown in the documentation to ease operation, ensuring a minimum of 20 inches (508.0mm) beyond the end of the cable pad mount transformer. Cut excess cable squarely at the center line of the bushing. Unwrap and bind concentric neutral wires 8-1/2 inches (216.0mm) back from the end of the cable. Remove the shield and insulation from the cable end, cutting squarely and taking care not to nick the conductor. Wire brush bare aluminum conductors and immediately install the compression lug. Rotate the lug to spread inhibitor and position it so the contact threaded hole aligns with the bushing bore. Crimp the lug according to the crimp chart, starting at the crimp line mark and rotating 180 degrees for each successive crimp. Carefully wipe excessive inhibitor from the outside of the lug and cable. Remove the semi-con shield as shown and bevel the insulation end a maximum of 1/8 inch (3.2mm). Thoroughly clean the insulation to remove all traces of conductive residue.
- Assemble Elbow Connector
Clean and lubricate the cable insulation and the inside of the elbow housing with the supplied lubricant; DO NOT SUBSTITUTE. Keep insulation clean of dirt and grime. Slide the elbow connector onto the cable with a back and forth twisting motion. Wipe off all excess silicone lubricant. Align the elbow with the compression lug’s threaded hole. Thread the probe into the lug by hand, taking care not to cross-thread. Tighten the probe with the supplied wrench until the wrench bends.
- Install Hold-Down Bail
Place the hold-down bail into the hold-down bracket. Compress the bail and insert it securely into the brackets.
- Connect Concentric Neutral
Using a separate No. 14 AWG (2.5mm) copper wire or equivalent, insert one end through the grounding eye on the elbow. Twist it tightly, taking care not to damage the eye. Twist all neutral wires together and connect them to ground using an appropriate connector. Ensure adequate slack in the wires for elbow operation.
- Connect Elbow to Bushing Plug
Clean the receptacle portion of the elbow connector and the mating bushing, then lubricate with the supplied lubricant. IMPORTANT: Lubricate only if the transformer and elbow are known to be de-energized. Use a fully insulated hot stick to place the elbow onto the bushing. DO NOT OPERATE BY HAND. DO NOT SEPARATE IF ENERGIZED.
- Secure Elbow with Bail
Pull the hold-down bail up over the crown or top of the elbow so that the eyebolt on the bail is directly over the operating eye. Tighten down on the elbow locator by turning the eyebolt in a clockwise direction. Adjust the nut on the eyebolt until it allows the eyebolt to seat securely in the locator. The nut should act as a stop to prevent the eyebolt from applying excessive force on the elbow. Once the nut is in its final position, it will not need to be readjusted when removing and replacing the elbow.
