How to Install the Allen-Bradley Operator Adapter ABS
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Allen-Bradley Operator Adapter ABS for disconnect switches and circuit breakers.
Estimated time: 1h
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Drill, Wrench
Supplies needed:
Adapter plate, Plate gasket, Mounting screws, Nylon washers, Slide arm, Shoulder collar, Cap screws, Lock washers, Flat washers, Hex nuts, Door catch
- Install the adapter plate and gasket
Attach the adapter plate and plate gasket to the inside of the enclosure behind the rectangular opening. Use four mounting screws and four nylon washers to secure it in place.
- Assemble the small handle
Install the Allen-Bradley operating handle and spring bracket onto the mounting plate secured in Step 1. Omit the cap screw and lock washer that fit into the bottom hole of the handle.
- Install the slide arm
Insert the slide arm through the hole in the spring bracket and over the defeater part of the operating handle. Ensure the notch in the slide arm is positioned toward the door opening.
- Attach the slide arm to the operator release mechanism
Connect the bottom of the slide arm to the offset arm of the operator release mechanism using two flat washers, two lock washers, and two hex nuts. Do not tighten yet.
- Adjust the operator release mechanism
Check the adjustment of the roller bracket to ensure the door latch hits against it when closed. Adjust as necessary to ensure proper operation.
- Install the door catch
Attach the door catch to the tapped spacer on the door using two screws and two lock washers. This prevents the door from opening when the handle is in the 'ON' position.
- Drill and tap holes in the panel
Follow the Allen-Bradley instructions to drill and tap the necessary holes in the panel.
- Install the panel in the enclosure
Secure the panel inside the enclosure as per the installation guidelines.
- Mount the disconnect switch or circuit breaker
Follow the Allen-Bradley instructions to mount the disconnect switch or circuit breaker on the panel.
