This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the ABF Operator Adapter for Allen-Bradley Bulletin 1494F Series B Disconnect Switches.
Estimated time: 1h
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Drill, Wire strippers, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Nylon washers, Flat washers, Lock washers, Hex nuts, Adapter plate, Plate gasket
- Drill and tap holes
Drill and tap the required holes in the panel according to the specifications for un-fused or fused switches. Refer to the Allen-Bradley Fixed Depth Disconnect Switch Installation Instructions for details.
- Install the adapter plate
Secure the adapter plate and plate gasket on the inside of the enclosure behind the rectangular opening. Use four screws and four nylon washers to secure it in place.
- Install the 1494F Series B
Follow the Allen-Bradley instructions provided with the 1494F disconnect to install it using the four carriage bolts supplied.
- Install the slide arm
Cut 2.50 inches off the bottom of the slide arm if mounting to the centerpost. Install the slide arm over the defeater part of the Allen-Bradley operating handle, ensuring the notch is positioned toward the door opening.
- Attach the slide arm
Use a long cap screw with a lock washer to attach the slide arm to the bottom mounting hole of the Allen-Bradley operating handle. Ensure the slide arm moves smoothly.
- Adjust the operator release mechanism
Check and adjust the factory-installed roller bracket so the door latch hits against it when closed. Adjust the length of the slide arm assembly to ensure the safety lock releases just before the master door is fully latched.
- Install the door catch
Attach the door catch to the tapped spacer on the door using the bottom set of mounting holes with two screws and two lock washers. This prevents the door from being opened when the operating handle is in the 'ON' position.
