How to Install and Adjust the SYSPEND 281-MAX Suspension System
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for mounting the suspension tube, aligning its position, and performing fine adjustments of the system's tightness for the SYSPEND 281-MAX.
Estimated time: 1h
Tools needed:
Hex key (SW 6), Hex key (SW 2.5), Torque wrench (1.5 Nm, 6 Nm, 20 Nm), Tool for threaded sleeve (Item No. 9805421000), Tool for threaded nut (Item No. 9805422000), Hex key (SW 4)
Supplies needed:
SYSPEND 281-MAX tube, Gaskets, M12x12 screws, M3 cylinder screws, M6x16 or M6x25 screws, Retaining washers, Cover (if applicable for adjustment)
- Mount the Suspension Tube
Begin by pressing the gasket flat. Insert the tube into position. For vertical mounting, tighten screws 1-6 until flush. For horizontal mounting, tighten screws 7-12 until flush. Then, press the gasket with the tube in the axial direction while tightening the appropriate screws (3 and 4 for vertical, 11 and 12 for horizontal) until there is no play. Maintain pressure and tighten the remaining screws (5 and 6 for vertical, 9 and 10 for horizontal) to 20 Nm. Ensure the gap is a maximum of 4.4 mm.
- Align the Suspension Tube
To adjust vertical alignment, slacken screws 3 and 4, then tighten screws 1 and 2. To adjust in the opposite vertical direction, tighten screws 3 and 4, then slacken screws 1 and 2. For horizontal alignment (Option 1), slacken screws 11 and 12, then tighten screws 7 and 8. To adjust in the opposite horizontal direction, tighten screws 11 and 12, then slacken screws 7 and 8. For horizontal alignment (Option 2), slacken screws 5 and 6 and tighten screws 1 and 2, or slacken screws 11 and 12 and tighten screws 7 and 8. Reverse this to adjust in the opposite direction.
- Perform Fine Adjustment of Tightness
Caution: Perform this adjustment only when components are not installed to avoid breakage, personal injury, or system fall. Ensure the component has no bearing clearance and plain bearings rest flat after fixing the threaded sleeve. If necessary, unscrew the cover. Loosen cylinder screws M3 by 2-3 mm (do not unscrew completely). Loosen the threaded sleeve anticlockwise with tool item no. 9805421000 (maximum 1 revolution). Set the desired swing torque by tightening the threaded sleeve. Correct the position of the through holes by tightening clockwise. Screw the M3 screws to the stop and tighten to 1.5 Nm. Finally, mount the cover if it was removed.
- Fix the Enclosure (Standard)
Secure the enclosure using 4 M6x16 or M6x25 screws and 4 retaining washers. Tighten these screws to a torque of 6 Nm using an SW 4 hex key.
