How to Install the Flex.Base for Suspension Systems
This guide details the mechanical assembly, earthing, and optional components installation for the Flex.Base, which serves as a ground-contacting base for suspension systems or stand columns supporting HMI devices.
Estimated time: 1h
Tools needed:
Torque wrench (capable of 1.5 Nm, 2 Nm, 3 Nm, 5 Nm, 12 Nm), Screwdriver (appropriate for M5, M8, M12 screws), Wrench (appropriate for M8, M12 screws)
Supplies needed:
Adapter plate (e.g., S2MSYSAPG), Earthing screws (M5), M8x20 screws, M12x12 screws, M5x40 self-tapping screws, Closure plate, M5x10 screws, Optional weights, Adjustable feet (S2MFBC) or castors (S2MFBF), Earthing cable, Cover plate for cable entries
- Prepare for Installation and Safety Precautions
Before starting, ensure the power supply is disconnected and suitable protective measures are in place to prevent electric shock. Read all safety instructions. Ensure the mounting surface is flat, even, and sufficiently load-bearing. Only experienced, trained electricians and fitters should perform this installation. Be aware of possible sharp edges on the underside of the Flex.Base.
- Install the Adapter Plate
Screw the appropriate adapter plate (e.g., S2MSYSAPG) onto the Flex.Base. Use the specified M8x20 and M12x12 screws. Tighten all screws to a torque of 12 Nm. Ensure the adapter plate is firmly attached.
- Install the Earthing System
Carry out necessary earthing and wiring measures. Tighten the M5 earthing screws to 2 Nm. For customer connections, tighten screws to 1.5 Nm. Ensure all earthing cross-sections are sufficiently dimensioned and the protective conductor system is properly installed before operation. Do not damage seals during installation, and avoid excessive crushing, stretching, or bending of power lines. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician.
- Connect the Suspension System
Connect the suspension system to the installed adapter plate. Refer to the specific technical data sheets for the suspension system for detailed connection instructions and load specifications. Ensure all connections are secure and meet static load requirements (F max. 900N, Tilting moment max. 20 Nm).
- Install Optional Weights (if required)
If increased stability is required, install up to four optional weights. Screw each weight in with two M5x40 self-tapping screws. Tighten these screws to a torque of 5 Nm.
- Install the Closure Plate
Insert the closure plate into its designated position. Fasten the plate using the 8x M5x10 screws. Tighten these screws to a torque of 3 Nm.
- Install Castors or Adjustable Feet
Mount either the apparatus castors (S2MFBF) or the adjustable support feet (S2MFBC) to the base. For support feet, ensure a minimum screw depth of 10mm and tighten to a maximum torque of 5 Nm. If using castors, ensure the selected cable lengths allow for movement and provide appropriate strain relief for outgoing cables. Remove any objects in the moving area to ensure safe movement and prevent tilting.
- Install Cable Entry Cover Surfaces (if applicable)
If applicable, install cover surfaces for cable entries. Fasten any screws for these covers to a torque of 2 Nm. Ensure seals are not damaged during installation to maintain the specified IP54 protection class. The operating company is responsible for proper sealing and compliance with tightening torques.
