How to Install the S2MFBF Free-Standing Base
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the mechanical assembly and initial electrical earthing of the S2MFBF free-standing base, designed for suspension systems and HMI devices.
Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Torque wrench, Screwdriver, Wire strippers
Supplies needed:
Adapter plate, M8x20 screws, M12x12 screws, M5 earthing screws, Earthing wire, Optional weights, M5x40 self-tapping screws, Closure plate, M5x10 screws, Castors or adjustable feet, Mounting screws for castors/feet
- Prepare for Installation and Mount the Adapter Plate
Before starting, ensure the power supply is disconnected and suitable protective measures are taken if any electrical work is involved. Read all safety instructions. Screw the appropriate adapter plate (e.g., S2MSYSAPG) onto the free-standing base. Tighten the M8x20 and M12x12 screws to 12 Nm. Ensure the mounting surface is flat, even, and sufficiently load-bearing.
- Install the Earthing System
Connect the earthing system to the designated points on the free-standing base. Tighten the M5 earthing screws to 2 Nm. For customer connections, tighten to 1.5 Nm. Ensure all earthing cross-sections are sufficiently dimensioned and that the protective conductor system is properly designed and installed by a qualified electrician. Avoid excessive crushing, stretching, or bending of power lines.
- Connect the Suspension System and Install Optional Components
Connect your suspension system or HMI device to the installed adapter plate. If desired, install up to four optional weights to increase stability by screwing them in with M5x40 self-tapping screws, tightened to 5 Nm. Insert the closure plate and fasten it with 8x M5x10 screws, tightening to 3 Nm. Finally, mount the castors or adjustable feet, tightening their screws to a maximum of 5 Nm with a minimum screw depth of 10mm. Ensure selected cable lengths allow for movement if castors are used, and provide appropriate strain relief.
