Overview

The nVent Syspend 281-MAX Swivel Tilt Coupling Vertical (SKU: S2MSCV) is a die-cast aluminum component designed for the Syspend 281-MAX suspension system. This vertical coupling facilitates secure mounting of panels, displays, and enclosures, offering versatile installation from the top or bottom. Its Jet Black finish (RAL 9005) ensures durability. The Syspend 281-MAX system is modular and adaptable, allowing for complex configurations. This coupling enables precise positioning and alignment, integrating with other Syspend 281-MAX components like elbow couplings (S2ME), flange couplings (S2MFC), and angled couplings (S2MACB, S2MACF) when used with an Angled Adapter (S2MAA). Applications include manufacturing, automation, and process control for HMIs, control cabinets, and electrical enclosures. The coupling allows 300 degrees of rotation and can be locked into position, featuring a safety stop and maintenance-free bearings. When used with a reduction elbow, the Syspend 281-MAX system load rating can increase to 281 lb (127 kg) at 3.3 ft (1 m).
  • Rotation angle 300 degrees with stop
  • Tilt angle with adjustable stop +/- 105 degrees (without attachments)
  • Screwed mounting opening, suitable for feed-through of DVI connectors
  • Allows 300 degrees of rotation and can be locked in position
  • Integrates with other nVent Syspend 281-MAX components

How to Install the SYSPEND 281-MAX Suspension System

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for mounting the SYSPEND 281-MAX suspension system, including tube installation, alignment, torque adjustments, and enclosure fixing.

Estimated time: 1h 30m

Tools needed:

Hex key SW 6, Hex key SW 2.5, Hex key SW 4, Hex key SW 5, Hex key SW 27, Tool item no. 9805421000, Tool item no. 9805422000

Supplies needed:

M12x12 screws, Gaskets, M3 cylinder screws, Threaded sleeve, M6 x16 or M6 x 25 screws, Retaining washers, M4 threaded pin, Threaded nut, M5x12 or M5x20 screws, Cover (for torque adjustment), Tilt angle limiter

  1. Prepare for Tube Mounting

Caution: Do not reach into tubes. For vertical mounting, press the gasket flat. Tighten screws 1 through 6 until they are flush on the inside. For horizontal mounting, press the gasket flat and tighten screws 7 through 12 until they are flush.

  2. Mount the Tube and Initial Tightening

Fit the tube into position. Press the gasket with the tube in an axial direction while tightening screws 3 and 4 (for vertical) or 11 and 12 (for horizontal) until there is no play. Maintain pressure while tightening screws 5 and 6 (for vertical) or 9 and 10 (for horizontal) to 20 Nm. Align the tube as described in the 'Align the Tube' step. Firmly tighten all screws in stages and check that the gap is a maximum of 4.4 mm.

  3. Align the Tube

For vertical alignment, slacken screws 3 and 4, then tighten screws 1 and 2. To adjust further, tighten screws 3 and 4, then slacken screws 1 and 2. For horizontal alignment (Option 1), slacken screws 11 and 12, then tighten screws 7 and 8. To adjust further, tighten screws 11 and 12, then slacken screws 7 and 8. For horizontal alignment (Option 2), slacken screws 5 and 6 and tighten screws 1 and 2, and/or slacken screws 11 and 12 and tighten screws 7 and 8. To adjust further, tighten screws 5 and 6 and slacken screws 1 and 2, and/or tighten screws 11 and 12 and slacken screws 7 and 8.

  4. Adjust Swing Torque (if applicable)

Attention: Perform this adjustment when components are not installed to prevent damage. Unscrew the cover if necessary. Loosen the M3 cylinder screws so that the screw head lifts 2-3 mm (do not unscrew completely). Loosen the threaded sleeve anticlockwise by a maximum of 1 revolution using tool item no. 9805421000. Set the desired swing torque by tightening the threaded sleeve clockwise, correcting the position of the through holes. Screw the M3 screws as far as the stop and tighten them to 1.5 Nm. Mount the cover if necessary.

  5. Adjust Inclination Moment of Turn/Tilt Coupling (if applicable)

Unscrew cover Pos.1. Unscrew the tilt angle limiter Pos.2. Unscrew the threaded pin M4 Pos.3. Loosen the threaded nut anticlockwise by a maximum of 1 revolution using tool item no. 9805422000. Set the desired inclination moment by tightening the threaded sleeve. Screw in the threaded pin M4 Pos.7. Mount the tilt angle limiter Pos.11. Mount the cover Pos.5.

  6. Fix Enclosure to Suspension System

For standard fixing, use 4x M6 x16 or M6 x 25 screws with 4x retaining washers. Tighten these screws to a torque of 6 Nm. For turn/tilt coupling W or S, use the same procedure. For fixing with a VESA 75/100 adapter plate, use 4x M6x20 screws.

  7. Install Link Cap

Secure the link cap using 2x M5x12 or 2x M5x20 screws. Tighten these screws to a torque of 2 Nm.
