How to Install and Set Up the Panduit DP4600H/E Label Printer
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for unpacking, connecting, and initially setting up the Panduit DP4600H/E label printer, including loading media and ribbon.

Label roll, Transfer ribbon, Adhesive tape, Wi-Fi stick (optional), USB cable, Power cable
- Unpack and Prepare the Printer
Carefully lift the label printer from its packaging and inspect it for any transport damage. Place the printer on a stable, level, and dry surface, protected from moisture. Remove any foam transportation safeguards located near the printhead.
- Install the Wi-Fi Stick (Optional)
If using Wi-Fi, remove the cover from the control panel using the Allen key. Connect the Wi-Fi stick to the designated USB interface within the control panel.
- Connect to Power and Network
Ensure the printer's power switch is off. Plug the power cable into the printer's power connection jack, then plug the other end into a grounded electrical socket. Connect the label printer to a computer or network using a suitable cable, ensuring all connected devices and cables are properly grounded to prevent malfunctions.
- Power On the Printer
After all connections are made, switch the printer on using the power switch. The printer will perform a system test and then display 'Ready' on the touchscreen.
- Load the Media Roll
Open the printer cover. Turn the ring on the inside margin stop counterclockwise and remove the margin stop from the roll retainer. Load the label roll onto the roll retainer, ensuring the printing side of the labels faces upward. Re-mount the margin stop, pushing it against the roll until it touches both margin stops firmly, then turn the ring clockwise to secure it.
- Insert Media into Printhead and Set Sensor
Turn the printhead lever counterclockwise to lift the printhead. Adjust the label guides using the knob so the media can pass through. Guide the label strip over the internal rewinder, through the label sensor, and out between the printhead and print roller. Move the guides against the material edges by turning the knob. Loosen the label sensor screw, position the sensor with its tab to detect the label gap or sensing slot, then tighten the screw. For tear-off mode, turn the printhead lever clockwise to lock the printhead.
- Load the Transfer Ribbon (if applicable)
Before loading, clean the printhead surface with a Panduit cleaning kit (PTR-CLN) and allow it to dry for 2-3 minutes. Ensure the printhead has cooled down before cleaning. Turn the printhead lever counterclockwise to lift the printhead. Slide the ribbon roll onto the ribbon supply hub with the color coating facing downward. Secure the roll by turning the knob on the ribbon supply hub counterclockwise. Slide a ribbon core onto the ribbon take-up hub and secure it. Guide the ribbon through the print unit as shown in the manual's diagram. Secure the ribbon's starting end to the take-up core with adhesive tape, ensuring counterclockwise rotation. Turn the ribbon take-up hub counterclockwise to smooth the ribbon path. Finally, turn the printhead lever clockwise to lock the printhead.
- Synchronize Paper Feed
After loading media (and ribbon), initiate the paper feed synchronization from the touchscreen display. This ensures the first label is correctly positioned for printing. Remove any blank labels fed out during this process.
