How to Install and Set Up the DP4300HD Label Printer

This guide provides comprehensive instructions for unpacking, physically setting up, connecting to power and network, and loading both media and transfer ribbon for the DP4300HD Label Printer.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Allen key

Supplies needed:

Power cable, USB cable, Ethernet cable (optional), Wi-Fi stick (optional), Label rolls, Transfer ribbon, Ribbon cores, Adhesive tape

  1. Unpack and Position the Printer

Lift the label printer out of its box and inspect it for any transport damage. Set up the printer on a stable, level, and dry surface, protected from splash water. Remove any foam transportation safeguards located near the printhead. Verify that all items listed in the delivery contents are present.

  2. Install the Wi-Fi Stick (Optional)

Use the provided Allen key to remove the cover from the control panel. Connect the Wi-Fi stick to the designated USB interface within the control panel. Replace the cover securely.

  3. Connect to Power Supply

Ensure the printer's power switch is in the "off" position. Plug the power cable into the power connection jack on the printer. Plug the other end of the power cable into a grounded electrical socket. Danger! Do not open the device casing due to risk of electric shock.

  4. Connect to Computer or Network

Connect the label printer to a computer or network using a suitable USB or Ethernet cable. Attention! Ensure all connected computers and cables are properly grounded to prevent malfunctions.

  5. Switch On the Printer

After all connections are made, switch the printer on using the power switch. Allow the printer to perform its system test; the display should show "Ready" when complete.

  6. Load Media Roll

Open the printer cover. Turn the ring on the roll retainer counterclockwise and remove the margin stop. Load the label roll onto the roll retainer. Re-mount the margin stop, pushing it until it firmly touches the label roll. Turn the ring clockwise to secure the roll.

  7. Insert Media into Print Mechanics

Unroll a section of media and guide it towards the print mechanics as shown in the printer's manual. Pull the detent pin to swing the pressing roller system upwards. Turn the levers to lift both printheads and swivel the brush away from the roller. Adjust the label guides apart using the knob, then feed the media strip through the print mechanics to the pinch roller, placing it between the guides. Move the guides against the edges of the media by turning the knob. Close the upper printhead to fix the media. Pull the detent pin, push the pressing roller system downwards, and lock it. Turn the media roll slightly against the feed direction to tighten the media. Close the lower printhead and swivel the brush back to the roller. Attention! For single-side printing, do not close the lower printhead.

  8. Set the Label Sensor

Loosen the screw on the label sensor unit. Position the label sensor using its tab so that the sensor can accurately detect the label gap or slot between labels. Tighten the screw to secure the sensor in place.

  9. Load Transfer Ribbon

Clean the printheads before loading the ribbon. Turn the lever counterclockwise to lift the upper printhead. Slide a ribbon roll onto the upper ribbon supply hub, ensuring the color coating faces downward. Position the ribbon roll so both ends show identical scale values, then turn the knob counterclockwise to secure it. Slide a suitable ribbon core onto the ribbon take-up hub, position, and secure it similarly. Guide the ribbon through the upper print unit. Secure the starting end of the ribbon to the middle of the ribbon core with adhesive tape, ensuring counterclockwise rotation. Turn the ribbon take-up hub counterclockwise to smooth the ribbon's feed path. Turn the lever clockwise to lock the upper printhead. Open the flap and load ribbon to the lower print unit in a similar manner, reversing directions as appropriate. Note: For single-side printing, do not insert ribbon into the lower print unit.

  10. Adjust Transfer Ribbon Feed Path (Optional)

If ribbon wrinkling occurs during printing, read the current setting on the scale. Turn the screw with the Allen key to adjust the ribbon deflection, observing the ribbon's behavior to prevent wrinkles. Turning in the "+" direction tightens the inner edge, and in the "-" direction tightens the outer edge.
