- Unpack and Position the Printer
Carefully lift the label printer out of its box and inspect it for any transport damage. Set up the printer on a stable, level surface in a dry location, protected from splash water. Remove any foam transportation safeguards located near the printhead.
- Connect to Power Supply
Ensure the printer is switched off. Plug the power cable into the power connection jack on the printer. Then, plug the power cable into a grounded electrical socket.
- Connect to a Computer or Network
If required, connect the label printer to a computer or network using a suitable cable. Ensure that all connected computers and cables are properly grounded to prevent malfunctions.
- Switch On the Printer
After all necessary connections have been made, switch the printer on using the power switch. The printer will perform a system test and then display "Ready" on the screen.
- Load Label Media from Roll
Turn the ring at the margin stop counterclockwise and remove the margin stop from the roll retainer. Load the label roll onto the roll retainer, ensuring the printing side of the labels faces upward. Re-mount the margin stop and push it against the roll until it touches both margin stops firmly. Turn the ring clockwise to lock it. Open the printhead by turning the lever counterclockwise. Position the label guides slightly wider than the material. Guide the label material below the roller and through the print unit, ensuring it passes below the label sensor. Move the guides closely to the material edges without clamping.
- Adjust the Label Sensor
Open the printhead. Press the knob on the sensor holder to release it. Adjust the sensor holder by turning the knob so that the yellow LED marking the sensor position aligns with the front edge of the label or any reflex/cut-out mark. Press the knob again to lock the sensor in place. This adjustment is typically needed for non-standard label materials.
- Clean the Printhead
Before loading a new transfer ribbon, ensure the printer is disconnected from the power supply and the printhead has cooled down. Open the printhead, remove any existing material and ribbon. Gently clean the printhead surfaces using a component from the Panduit cleaning kit (PTR-CLN). Do not use sharp objects or touch the protective glass layer. Allow the printhead to dry for 2-3 minutes before proceeding.
- Load Transfer Ribbon
Open the printhead. Set the guide on the ribbon supply hub to the correct transfer ribbon width by unlocking, sliding, and then locking it. Slide the transfer ribbon roll onto the supply hub so that the color coating faces downward when unwound. Adjust the guide on the take-up hub to the width of the ribbon core and push the ribbon core onto it. Guide the ribbon through the printing unit, ensuring it passes over the label sensor. Secure the starting end of the ribbon to the take-up ribbon core with adhesive tape, ensuring counterclockwise rotation. Turn the ribbon take-up hub counterclockwise to smooth the ribbon's feed path.
- Adjust Transfer Ribbon Feed Path
If ribbon wrinkling occurs, adjust the ribbon deflection to prevent print image errors. Use a Torx wrench TX10 to turn the adjustment screw. Turning clockwise tightens the outer edge of the ribbon, while turning counterclockwise tightens the inner edge. This adjustment is best performed during printing.
