How to Install the FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Connector Kit

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Thomas & Betts FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Connector Kit, covering cable preparation, sleeve cutting, and final assembly. WARNING: Installation must be performed by trained installers in accordance with all applicable local, state, and national electrical codes, installation standards, and safety rules to prevent electric shock.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Crimping tool, Wrench or socket, Cutting tool (knife or shears), Cleaning cloth or solution, Pencil or marker

Supplies needed:

FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Connector Kit, Electrical cable, Electrical lug, Electrical bus bar, Silicone grease

  1. Clean the Cable

Clean the cable thoroughly before installing the rocket sleeve to ensure proper adhesion and sealing.

  2. Pencil Cable Insulation

Mark the cable insulation with a pencil to indicate the required stripping length or position for the sleeve.

  3. Select Correct Cut Ring

Refer to the cable range shown in the raised numbers on each cut ring. Match the conductor size being installed (e.g., #2 or #1 for CFG 1 CS) to the correct ring.

  4. Cut Sleeve Tip

Cut off the tip of the rocket sleeve up to the selected ring. The proper cut will leave the required conductor range showing on the sleeve.

  5. Compress Lug

Compress the lug securely onto the cable.

  6. Lubricate Sleeve and Cable

Lubricate both ends of the rocket sleeve and the cable with silicone grease to facilitate installation.

  7. Slide Rocket Sleeve

Hold the cable at an angle to the opening. Twist the rocket sleeve while pushing it onto the cable and over the lug until it butts against the shoulder of the bus and the rubber of the connector bar.

  8. Bolt Terminal

Bolt the terminal securely to the bus.
