This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing FLOOD-SEAL® 95 Heat Shrink Connector Kits, including preparing the cable, crimping the lug, and properly shrinking the sleeve for a secure seal. WARNING: Danger of Electric Shock! Installation of this product must be performed by trained installers in accordance with all applicable local, state and national electrical codes, installation standards and safety rules.

Tools needed:
Wire strippers, Wire brush, Crimping tool, Wrench or socket, Butane torch, Propane torch, 500°F electric heat gun
Supplies needed:
FLOOD-SEAL® 95 Heat Shrink Connector Kit (includes heat shrink sleeve and lug), Cable (conductor), Joint compound, Connector bus
- Prepare the Cable
Remove the cable insulation from the conductor end. Thoroughly wire brush the exposed conductor to ensure a clean surface for connection.
- Position Heat Shrink Sleeve
Slip the heat shrink sleeve, provided in the kit, over the cable end. Ensure it is positioned far enough back to allow for lug crimping and connection, ready for later shrinking.
- Crimp and Bolt Lug
Crimp the lug onto the prepared conductor end using an appropriate crimping tool. Wipe away any excess joint compound from the lug. Bolt the lug securely to the contact pad on the FLOOD SEAL connector bus.
- Position Sleeve over Lug
Slide the heat shrink sleeve forward over the crimped lug until it butts firmly against the connector bus.
- Shrink Sleeve at Bus End
Apply heat evenly to the sleeve at the bus end using a butane torch, propane torch, or a 500°F electric heat gun (do not use Acetylene). Move the heat source to a new position as visual shrinkage occurs. The seal is completed when a bead of mastic appears at the sleeve end.
- Shrink Sleeve over Terminal Lug
Working away from the connector bus, continue to apply heat evenly to shrink the sleeve over the terminal lug. Move the heat source to a new position as visual shrinkage occurs.
- Shrink Sleeve over Cable End
Apply heat evenly to shrink the remainder of the sleeve over the cable end. Move the heat source to a new position as visual shrinkage occurs. A complete seal is indicated when a bead of mastic appears at the cable end.
