This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the FLOOD-SEAL FS-95 Connector Kit, designed for force-fit applications. Ensure installation is performed by trained personnel in accordance with all applicable local, state, and national electrical codes, installation standards, and safety rules to prevent electric shock.
Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Crimping tool, Cutting tool, Wrench or socket set, Cleaning cloth
Supplies needed:
FLOOD-SEAL FS-95 Connector Kit, Electrical cable, Silicone grease, Electrical lug, Connector bar or bus, Pencil
- Clean the Cable
Clean the cable thoroughly before installing the rocket sleeve to ensure proper sealing and connection.
- Prepare Cable Insulation
Pencil the cable insulation as required for the specific application or lug type, preparing it for subsequent steps.
- Select Correct Cut Ring
Refer to the cable range shown in raised numbers on each cut ring of the rocket sleeve. Match the conductor size being installed to the correct ring.
- Cut the Rocket Sleeve
Cut off the tip of the rocket sleeve up to the selected ring. The proper cut will leave only the required conductor range showing on the sleeve.
- Compress the Lug
Compress the lug onto the prepared cable using an appropriate crimping tool, ensuring a secure electrical and mechanical connection.
- Lubricate and Install Rocket Sleeve onto Cable
Lubricate both ends of the rocket sleeve and the cable with silicone grease. Hold the cable at an angle to the opening and twist the rocket sleeve while pushing it onto the cable until it is fully seated.
- Slide Rocket Sleeve onto Bus Shoulder
Slide the rocket sleeve over the lug and onto the shoulder of the bus until the rocket sleeve butts firmly against the rubber of the connector bar.
- Bolt the Terminal
Bolt the terminal to the bus, ensuring a tight and secure connection according to manufacturer specifications and applicable torque requirements.
