How to Install T&B Liquidtight 7000 Series Connectors

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of T&B liquidtight flexible metallic conduit connectors, ensuring high performance and reliability. Always disconnect power and wear appropriate safety gear before starting.

Estimated time: 15m

Tools needed:

Hacksaw or Power Band Saw, Smooth Jaw Wrench, Torque Wrench, Safety Glasses, Work Gloves

Supplies needed:

Liquidtight Flexible Metallic Conduit, T&B Liquidtight Connector (e.g., 7363), Locknut (for 7000 series, ordered separately), PVC Cement (optional, for PVC coated connectors)

  1. Disconnect Power and Prepare Workspace

WARNING: Risk of shock, disconnect power before installation. CAUTION: Product should be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes. Before beginning any installation, disconnect power to the circuit to prevent risk of electrical shock. Ensure you are wearing appropriate hand and eye protection.

  2. Cut the Flexible Conduit

Using a metal jig, a sharp hacksaw (32 teeth/inch), or a power band saw (24-32 teeth/inch, not more than 400’/minute), cut the liquidtight flexible metallic conduit with a clean, square end. Do not use an abrasive wheel for cutting.

  3. Assemble the Connector onto the Conduit

For 7000 series connectors, slide the gland nut onto the conduit, followed by the nylon sealing ring. Then, thread the Safe Edge™ Cone into the connector body. For PVC coated connectors, use a smooth jaw wrench for tightening; if gouging occurs exposing metal, PVC cement is recommended.

  4. Secure the Connector to the Enclosure

Insert the connector body into the knockout opening of the electrical box or enclosure. Secure it from the inside with the appropriate locknut (for 7000 and 9000 series, the locknut must be ordered separately). Ensure the 'Box side' of the connector is correctly positioned on the outside of the box.

  5. Tighten the Gland Nut

Tighten the gland nut onto the connector body to the specified torque value for the conduit's trade size, as indicated in the provided torque table (e.g., 200 lb.-in. for 3/8", 300 lb.-in. for 1/2"). This ensures a liquidtight seal and proper grounding.
