How to Install T&B Liquidtight Connectors
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of T&B liquidtight connectors with flexible metallic conduit, ensuring high performance and reliability. Always disconnect power and wear appropriate safety gear before beginning.

Hacksaw, Metal jig (optional), Power band saw (optional), Smooth jaw wrench, Torque wrench
Supplies needed:
Liquidtight flexible metallic conduit, T&B Liquidtight Connector (e.g., 7357 series), T&B 140 series locknuts (for knockout applications), 5260 series sealing gaskets (for knockout applications), PVC cement (for PVC coated connectors)
- Prioritize Safety
WARNING: Disconnect all power to the installation area before beginning. CAUTION: Ensure installation is performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes. Wear hand protection and eye protection throughout the installation process to prevent injury.
- Prepare the Flexible Conduit
Cut the flexible metallic conduit with a clean, square end. For best results, use a metal jig and a sharp hacksaw (32 Tooth/In. no. set). For high production, a power band saw (24-32 Tooth/In. wavy set, not more than 400'/minute) can be used. Do not use an abrasive wheel for cutting.
- Assemble the Connector Components
For 5000, 7000, 9000 series, and PVC coated 3300 series connectors, first slide the gland nut onto the prepared conduit. Next, slide on the nylon sealing ring. Finally, thread in the Safe Edge™ Cone onto the conduit end.
- Install Connector Body into Knockout
Insert the connector body through the knockout hole in the box wall from the outside. Ensure the 'O' ring (if present, such as with 5371 series) is correctly positioned on the outside of the box. For knockout applications, use T&B 140 series locknuts and 5260 series sealing gaskets (purchased separately). For 7000 and 9000 series, order the locknut separately.
- Secure the Locknut and Tighten
Thread the locknut onto the connector body from inside the box. Tighten the locknut to the specified torque using a smooth jaw wrench (especially for PVC coated connectors). Refer to the manufacturer's torque table for precise values; for example, a 3/8" fitting requires 200 lb.-in., and a 1/2" fitting requires 300 lb.-in. If installing a PVC coated connector and gouging occurs exposing metal, apply PVC cement to ensure corrosion protection.
