How to Install T&B Liquidtight Connectors for Flexible Metallic Conduit

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of T&B liquidtight connectors, including the 7000 series like 7366, ensuring high performance and reliability for flexible metallic conduit applications.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Hacksaw (32 Tooth/ln) or Power Band Saw (24-32 Tooth/ln), Metal jig (optional, for conduit cutting), Smooth jaw wrench, Torque wrench, Hand protection (gloves), Eye protection (safety glasses)

Supplies needed:

Liquidtight flexible metallic conduit, T&B Liquidtight connector (e.g., 7366 series), T&B 140 series locknut (for knockout applications, if needed), 5260 series sealing gasket (for knockout applications, if needed), PVC cement (for PVC coated connectors, if gouging occurs)

  1. Disconnect Power and Prepare Conduit

WARNING: Risk of shock, disconnect all power before beginning installation. CAUTION: This product should be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes. Wear hand and eye protection. Cut the flexible conduit with a clean, square end cut. Use a metal jig, a 32 Tooth/ln sharp hacksaw, or a 24-32 Tooth/ln wavy set power band saw (not more than 400'/minute). Do not use an abrasive wheel for cutting.

  2. Assemble Connector Components

For 5000, 7000, and 9000 series, and PVC coated 3300 series connectors: First, slide the gland nut onto the conduit. Next, slide the nylon sealing ring onto the conduit. Then, thread in the Safe Edge™ Cone. For PVC coated connectors, use a smooth jaw wrench for tightening to prevent gouging; if gouging occurs exposing metal, PVC cement is recommended. For knockout applications, use T&B® 140 series locknuts and 5260 series sealing gaskets (purchase separately). For 7000 and 9000 series, order the locknut separately.

  3. Secure Connector and Tighten to Specified Torque

    Insert the assembled connector into the knockout box or desired opening. For knockout applications, ensure the locknut is positioned correctly. Tighten the gland nut to the connector body using a smooth jaw wrench and a torque wrench to the specified torque values: 3/8" (200 lb.-in.), 1/2" (300 lb.-in.), 3/4" (500 lb.-in.), 1" (700 lb.-in.), 1 1/4" (1000 lb.-in.), 1 1/2" (1200 lb.-in.), 2" (1600 lb.-in.), 2 1/2" (1600 lb.-in.), 3" (1600 lb.-in.), 3 1/2" (1600 lb.-in.), 4" (1600 lb.-in.).
