This guide provides step-by-step instructions for properly installing T&B liquidtight connectors, including the 7341 series, to ensure high performance and reliability in accordance with national and local electrical codes.
Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Hacksaw, Metal jig (optional), Power band saw (optional), Smooth jaw wrench
Supplies needed:
Liquidtight flexible metal conduit, T&B 140 series locknuts (for knockout applications), 5260 series sealing gaskets (for knockout applications), PVC cement (if using PVC coated connectors)
- Prepare the flexible conduit
WARNING: Disconnect power before installation to avoid risk of shock. CAUTION: This product should be installed by a qualified electrician. Wear hand and eye protection. Cut the flexible conduit with a clean, square end. Use a metal jig, a 32 Tooth/ln. hacksaw, or a 24-32 Tooth/ln. wavy set power band saw (not exceeding 400’/minute). Do not use an abrasive wheel.
- Assemble the liquidtight connector
For 7341 series connectors, slide the gland nut onto the conduit, followed by the nylon sealing ring. Then, thread the Safe Edge™ Cone onto the conduit. If using a PVC coated connector, tighten with a smooth jaw wrench to prevent gouging; apply PVC cement if metal is exposed.
- Secure the connector to the knockout box
Insert the connector body into the knockout box. For knockout applications, use a T&B® 140 series locknut and 5260 series sealing gasket (purchased separately). Secure the locknut to the connector body, tightening it to the specified torque: 3/8" (200 lb.-in.), 1/2" (300 lb.-in.), 3/4" (500 lb.-in.), 1" (700 lb.-in.), 1 1/4" (1000 lb.-in.), 1 1/2" (1200 lb.-in.), 2" (1600 lb.-in.).
