What is the primary benefit of the new 316 stainless steel fittings?
The new 316 stainless steel fittings offer superior corrosion resistance while retaining all the features of standard T&B Liquidtight Fittings.
What is a key feature of the Steel Quick-Connect™ fittings?
Steel Quick-Connect™ fittings feature an innovative labor-saving design that requires no disassembly for installation.
Why are rolled threads used in these fittings?
Rolled threads are stronger than formed threads, eliminate burrs for faster installation, and provide a more secure connection to the gland nut or locknut.
What is the size range for steel liquidtight fittings?
Steel liquidtight fittings are available in a size range from 1/4 in to 6 in.
What are the available sizes for high-temperature fittings?
High-temperature fittings are available in straight styles from 3/8 in to 4 in, and 45° & 90° styles from 3/8 in to 2 in.
What is the maximum temperature rating for high-temperature fittings?
High-temperature liquidtight fittings are designed for extreme temperatures up to 150° C.
What makes the case-hardened locknut effective?
The case-hardened locknut offers superior strength and features sharp teeth that bite through paint for a superior bond, preventing spinning during tightening.
What material is the liquidtight sealing gasket made of?
The liquidtight sealing gasket features a 316 stainless steel ring for corrosion protection and is filled with TPE for higher temperature and chemical resistance.
What are the advantages of the heat-curled insulator?
The heat-curled insulator provides excellent wire protection, easier conductor glide, and more strength than glue-in insulators, ensuring it will not fall out.
What are the benefits of the double-beveled sealing ring?
The double-beveled sealing ring is soft and pliable for easy installation, provides custom conformity around the conduit, and is reversible.
How to Install the 5346SST6HT Liquid-Tight Flexible Metallic Conduit Fitting
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for properly installing the 5346SST6HT stainless steel liquid-tight fitting onto flexible metallic conduit, ensuring a secure and liquid-tight connection for knockout applications.
Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Hacksaw (32 Tooth/In. no. set) or Power band saw (24-32 Tooth/In. set), Metal jig (optional, for conduit cutting), Hammer, Standard screwdriver, Torque wrench (capable of 1200 lb-in / 136 N-m)
Supplies needed:
Flexible Metallic Conduit (LFMC), 5346SST6HT Liquid-Tight Fitting (includes gland nut, nylon sealing ring, SAFE-EDGE® ground cone, SS body), LNSS/150 Locknut (purchase separately), 5266 Seal Gasket (purchase separately)
- Prepare the Flexible Metallic Conduit
Cut the end of the flexible metallic conduit with a clean, square cut. Use a metal jig and a sharp hacksaw with 32 teeth per inch, or a power band saw with 24-32 teeth per inch operating at no more than 400 feet per minute. Do not use an abrasive wheel for cutting.
- Assemble Components onto Conduit
Slide the gland nut onto the prepared flexible metallic conduit. Next, slide the nylon sealing ring onto the conduit. Then, thread the SAFE-EDGE® ground cone onto the conduit end.
- Connect Conduit to Fitting Body
Insert the prepared end of the flexible metallic conduit, with the gland nut, nylon sealing ring, and ground cone, into the main stainless steel body of the 5346SST6HT fitting.
- Mount Fitting to Box Wall Knockout
Insert the threaded end of the 5346SST6HT fitting body through the knockout opening in the box wall. On the opposite side of the box wall, place the Series 5266 seal gasket against the box wall, followed by the LNSS/150 locknut.
- Secure the Locknut
Hand-tighten the LNSS/150 locknut. Then, further tighten the locknut an additional 1/4 turn using a hammer and a standard screwdriver, or an equivalent method. This secures the fitting body to the box wall.
- Secure the Gland Nut for Liquid-Tight Seal
Tighten the gland nut onto the fitting body to the UL recommended value of 1200 lb-in (136 N-m). This step is crucial for achieving a liquid-tight and dust-tight installation.
