This guide provides step-by-step instructions for properly installing the 5354SST6HT stainless steel 90-degree liquid-tight fitting with flexible metallic conduit, ensuring high performance and reliability for 1-inch NPT applications.

Liquid-Tight Flexible Metallic Conduit, Gland Nut (part of fitting), Nylon Sealing Ring (part of fitting), SAFE-EDGE Ground Cone (part of fitting), Locknut (LNSS/100, purchase separately for knockout applications), Seal Gasket (5264, purchase separately for knockout applications)
- Prepare Flexible Metallic Conduit
Cut the end of the flexible metallic conduit with a clean, square cut. For best results, use a metal jig and a sharp hacksaw (32 teeth/inch). For high production, a power band saw (24-32 teeth/inch, not exceeding 400 feet per minute) can be used. Do not use an abrasive wheel, as this can damage the conduit.
- Assemble Fitting Components onto Conduit
First, slide the stainless steel gland nut onto the prepared flexible conduit. Next, slide the nylon sealing ring onto the conduit, ensuring it is positioned correctly. Finally, thread the SAFE-EDGE® ground cone onto the end of the conduit, making sure it engages properly.
- Mount Fitting to Enclosure (Knockout Application)
If installing into a knockout opening, insert the assembled fitting through the box wall. On the inside of the box, place the appropriate seal gasket (Part No. 5264 for 1-inch NPT) over the fitting threads, followed by the locknut (Part No. LNSS/100 for 1-inch NPT). Ensure the gasket is seated correctly for liquid-tight and dust-tight installations.

Hand-tighten the locknut against the box wall. Then, further tighten the locknut by an additional 1/4 turn using a hammer and a standard screwdriver, or an equivalent method, to ensure a secure connection to the enclosure.
