This guide details the proper assembly and installation of the 5352SST6HT 90-degree stainless steel liquid-tight fitting for flexible metallic conduit, ensuring a secure and liquid-tight connection.

Supplies needed:

5352SST6HT fitting, Liquid-tight flexible metal conduit (LFMC), Locknut (LNSS/050), Seal gasket (5262)

  1. Prepare the Flexible Conduit

    Cut the end of the flexible conduit with a clean, square cut. Use a metal jig, a 32 Tooth/In. no. set sharp hacksaw, or for high production, a 24-32 Tooth/In. set power band saw (not more than 400’/minute). DO NOT USE ABRASIVE WHEEL.

  2. Assemble the Fitting Components

    Slide the gland nut onto the prepared end of the flexible conduit. Slide the nylon sealing ring onto the conduit, following the gland nut. Thread the SAFE-EDGE® ground cone into the end of the flexible conduit.

  3. Install the Fitting into the Box Wall

    For knockout applications, insert the threaded end of the fitting (with assembled conduit) through the box wall. Place the appropriate seal gasket (Part No. 5262 for 1/2" NPT) over the fitting threads on the inside of the box wall. Thread the appropriate locknut (Part No. LNSS/050 for 1/2" NPT) onto the fitting threads on the inside of the box wall. Hand-tighten the locknut, then further tighten it 1/4 turn with a hammer and a standard screwdriver or by an equivalent method.

  4. Tighten the Gland Nut

    Tighten the gland nut to the UL recommended value of 300 lb-in (33.9 N-m) for the 1/2" NPT fitting. Use a torque wrench for accurate tightening to ensure a liquid-tight seal.
