How to Install Stainless Steel Liquid-Tight Flexible Metallic Conduit Fittings
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of stainless steel liquid-tight flexible metallic conduit fittings, such as the 5352SST6, ensuring high performance and reliability for liquid-tight and dust-tight applications.

Hacksaw, Metal jig, Power band saw, Hammer, Standard screwdriver, Torque wrench
Supplies needed:
Liquid-tight flexible metallic conduit, T&B® Series LNSS locknut, T&B® Series 5260 seal gasket
- Cut the Flexible Metallic Conduit
Using a metal jig, a sharp hacksaw (32 Tooth/In. no. set), or a power band saw (24-32 Tooth/In. set, not more than 400'/minute), cut the end of the flexible conduit with a clean, square cut. DO NOT USE AN ABRASIVE WHEEL for cutting the conduit.
- Assemble the Fitting Components onto the Conduit
Slide the gland nut onto the cut end of the flexible conduit. Next, slide the nylon sealing ring onto the conduit. Finally, thread the SAFE-EDGE® ground cone into the conduit end, ensuring it is properly seated.
- Install the Fitting into the Enclosure Opening
Insert the fitting body, with the assembled conduit, through the knockout or threaded opening in the box wall. For knockout applications, place a T&B® Series 5260 seal gasket over the fitting threads against the box wall, then secure with a T&B® Series LNSS locknut. Hand-tighten the locknut, then further tighten it 1/4 turn with a hammer and a standard screwdriver or an equivalent method.
- Secure the Gland Nut
Tighten the gland nut to the UL recommended torque value specified in the provided table. For a 1/2" NPT fitting (e.g., 53x2SST6), the gland nut tightening torque is 300 lb-in (33.9 N-m). Use a torque wrench to ensure precise tightening.
