How to Install the 5345SST6HT Liquid-Tight Flexible Metal Conduit Fitting
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for properly installing the 5345SST6HT 1-1/4" NPT, 45-degree angle, high-temperature liquid-tight fitting for flexible metallic conduit. Ensure a secure and liquid-tight connection.

Hacksaw (32 Tooth/In. no. set), Power Band Saw (24-32 Tooth/In. set), Metal Jig (optional), Wrench, Hammer, Standard Screwdriver
Supplies needed:
1-1/4" Liquid-Tight Flexible Metal Conduit, 5265 Seal Gasket, LNSS/125 Locknut, 5345SST6HT Liquid-Tight Fitting
- Prepare the Flexible Metal Conduit
Cut the end of the flexible conduit with a clean, square cut. Use a hacksaw with a 32 Tooth/In. no. set or a power band saw with a 24-32 Tooth/In. set (not more than 400'/minute). Do not use an abrasive wheel. A metal jig is recommended for precise cuts.
- Assemble Fitting Components onto Conduit
Slide the gland nut (part of the 5345SST6HT fitting) onto the prepared end of the flexible metal conduit. Next, slide the nylon sealing ring onto the conduit. Finally, thread the SAFE-EDGE® ground cone onto the conduit, ensuring it is properly seated.
- Install Fitting into Box Wall Knockout
Insert the threaded body of the 5345SST6HT fitting through the knockout hole in the box wall. For knockout applications, place the 5265 seal gasket against the outside of the box wall, then thread the LNSS/125 locknut onto the fitting's threads from the inside of the box.
- Tighten the Gland Nut
Using a wrench, tighten the gland nut to the UL recommended value of 1,000 lb-in (113 N-m). This secures the conduit within the fitting and ensures a liquid-tight seal.
- Secure the Locknut
Hand-tighten the LNSS/125 locknut against the inside of the box wall. Then, further tighten the locknut by an additional 1/4 turn using a hammer and a standard screwdriver, or an equivalent method, to achieve the recommended torque of 160 lb-in (18.1 N-m). This ensures the fitting is firmly secured to the box.
