How to Install 5355SST6 Liquid-Tight Flexible Metallic Conduit Fittings
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for properly installing 5355SST6 stainless steel liquid-tight fittings for flexible metallic conduit, ensuring high performance and reliability in liquid-tight and dust-tight applications.

Supplies needed:
5355SST6 Liquid-Tight Fitting, Liquid-tight flexible metallic conduit, LNSS/125 Locknut, 5265 Seal Gasket
- Prepare the Flexible Metallic Conduit
Cut the end of the flexible metallic conduit with a clean, square cut. Use a sharp hacksaw (32 teeth/inch) or a power band saw (24-32 teeth/inch, not exceeding 400 ft/min). A metal jig can be used for assistance. Do not use an abrasive wheel for cutting.
- Assemble Fitting Components onto Conduit
Slide the gland nut onto the cut end of the conduit, followed by the nylon sealing ring. Then, thread the SAFE-EDGE® ground cone into the conduit end until it is securely seated.
- Install Fitting into Box Wall
Insert the assembled conduit end with the fitting body through the knockout hole in the box wall. Place the 5265 seal gasket against the outside of the box wall, then secure the fitting from the inside with the LNSS/125 locknut.
- Tighten the Locknut
Hand-tighten the LNSS/125 locknut. Following UL, CSA, and NEMA recommendations, further tighten the locknut by an additional 1/4 turn using a hammer and a standard screwdriver or an equivalent method to ensure a secure connection.
- Tighten the Gland Nut
Tighten the gland nut to the UL recommended value of 1,000 lb-in (113 N-m). This ensures a liquid-tight and dust-tight seal for the flexible metallic conduit connection.
