How to Install a 5334SST6 Stainless Steel Liquid-tight Conduit Fitting
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for properly installing a 5334SST6 stainless steel liquid-tight fitting with flexible metallic conduit into a box wall, ensuring a secure and liquid-tight connection.

Hacksaw, Standard screwdriver, Hammer, Torque wrench (optional, for precise gland nut tightening)
Supplies needed:
Liquid-tight flexible metallic conduit, 5334SST6 Stainless Steel Liquid-tight Fitting, LNSS/100 Locknut (for 1" NPT knockout applications), 5264 Seal Gasket (for 1" NPT knockout applications)
- Prepare the Flexible Conduit
Cut the end of the flexible conduit with a clean, square cut. Use a metal jig and a 32 tooth/inch hacksaw, or a power band saw with 24-32 teeth/inch at no more than 400 feet/minute. DO NOT use an abrasive wheel, as this can damage the conduit.
- Assemble Fitting Components onto Conduit
Slide the gland nut (part of the 5334SST6 fitting) onto the prepared end of the flexible conduit. Next, slide the nylon sealing ring onto the conduit. Finally, thread the SAFE-EDGE® ground cone onto the conduit, ensuring it is properly seated.
- Install Fitting into Box Wall Knockout
Insert the main body of the 5334SST6 fitting through the knockout hole in the box wall. For knockout applications, place the 5264 seal gasket over the fitting's threads from inside the box, then thread the LNSS/100 locknut onto the fitting body from inside the box.
- Secure the Locknut
Hand-tighten the LNSS/100 locknut. Then, further tighten the locknut by an additional 1/4 turn using a hammer and a standard screwdriver, or an equivalent method, to firmly secure the fitting to the box wall. This ensures a robust mechanical connection.
- Tighten the Gland Nut
Tighten the gland nut onto the fitting body to the UL recommended torque value. For the 5334SST6 (1" NPT), tighten the gland nut to 700 lb-in (79.1 N-m). This critical step ensures a liquid-tight and dust-tight seal for the conduit connection.
