How to Install the 5333SST6HT Liquid-Tight Flexible Metallic Conduit Fitting
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for properly cutting flexible metallic conduit and assembling the 5333SST6HT stainless steel liquid-tight fitting for secure and reliable connections in a 3/4 inch NPT opening.

Hacksaw (32 Tooth/In. no. set, sharp) or Power band saw (24-32 Tooth/In. set), Metal jig (optional, for cutting conduit), Hammer, Standard screwdriver, Torque wrench (capable of 500 lb-in / 56.5 N-m)
Supplies needed:
5333SST6HT Liquid-Tight Flexible Metallic Conduit Fitting, 3/4 inch Liquid-tight flexible metallic conduit, LNSS/075 Stainless Steel Locknut (3/4 inch NPT), 5263 Seal Gasket (3/4 inch NPT), Electrical box or enclosure with 3/4 inch NPT opening
- Prepare the Flexible Metallic Conduit
Cut the end of the flexible metallic conduit with a clean, square cut. For best results, use a metal jig and a sharp hacksaw (32 teeth/inch). For high production, use a power band saw (24-32 teeth/inch, not exceeding 400 ft/minute). Safety Warning: Do not use an abrasive wheel for cutting the conduit, as this can damage the material.
- Assemble Fitting Components onto the Conduit
Slide the gland nut (part of the 5333SST6HT fitting) onto the cut end of the flexible metallic conduit. Next, slide the nylon sealing ring onto the conduit, ensuring it is correctly oriented for sealing. Finally, thread the SAFE-EDGE® ground cone into the end of the conduit.
- Install the Fitting into the Enclosure
Insert the threaded body of the 5333SST6HT fitting through the 3/4 inch NPT knockout or threaded opening in the electrical box or enclosure. If using a knockout, place the 5263 seal gasket over the threaded body of the fitting against the exterior of the box wall. Thread the LNSS/075 locknut onto the fitting's body from inside the box.
- Secure the Locknut
Hand-tighten the LNSS/075 locknut onto the fitting body. Then, further tighten the locknut an additional 1/4 turn using a hammer and a standard screwdriver, or an equivalent method, to ensure a secure and stable connection to the box wall.
- Tighten the Gland Nut
Tighten the gland nut onto the fitting body to the UL recommended value. Apply a tightening torque of 500 lb-in (56.5 N-m) to the gland nut. This critical step ensures a liquid-tight and dust-tight seal around the flexible metallic conduit, providing high performance and reliability.
