Hacksaw (32 Tooth/In no set, sharp), Power band saw (24-32 Tooth/In. wavy set, not more than 400/sfpm), Flat nose pliers, Torque wrench
Supplies needed:
T&B Liquidtight Connector with Grips, Flexible metallic conduit, Sealing ring (1 piece or O-ring type), Safe-Edge steel grounding cone, T&B 140 Series locknuts (for knockout applications), T&B 5262 Series sealing o-rings (for knockout applications)
- Prepare Conduit (Optional for Maximum Cord Diameter)
If installing at maximum cord diameter, use flat nose pliers to carefully preform the endless weave mesh by forming each loop round. Repeat for all loops to facilitate installation.
- Cut Flexible Conduit
Cut the flexible conduit with a clean, square end. Use a 32 Tooth/In no set, sharp hacksaw or a 24-32 Tooth/In. wavy set power band saw (not exceeding 400 surface feet per minute). CAUTION: Do not use an abrasive wheel for cutting.
- Slide Grip and Gland-Nut
Slide the grip assembly, including the gland-nut, onto the flexible conduit.
- Slide Sealing Ring
Slide the sealing ring onto the conduit, ensuring it is positioned correctly.
- Screw Ground Cone
Screw the Safe-Edge steel grounding cone tightly into the end of the conduit.
- Seat Sealing Ring
Push the sealing ring firmly towards the ground cone until it is fully seated into the ground cone flange.
- Insert Ground Cone into Body
Insert the ground cone, with the conduit and seated sealing ring, into the connector body.
- Tighten Gland Nut
Push the end of the grip along the conduit towards the connector body and screw the gland nut onto the body. Refer to the "TIGHTENING TORQUE IN POUND-INCHES" table (provided in the original document) and use a torque wrench to tighten the gland nut to the specified torque for the fitting's trade size. After tightening, verify that the grip is laying flat and fully extended out along the conduit.
- Install Locknut and O-Ring (For Knockout Applications)
For knockout applications, secure the connector to the box wall using a T&B 140 Series locknut and a T&B 5262 Series sealing o-ring (purchased separately). Ensure the sealing o-ring's "BOX SIDE" is correctly positioned on the outside of the box.
