Overview

The ABB 5336WMG6 Liquidtight Flexible Conduit Fitting is a straight, 1-1/2 inch conduit fitting designed for secure, liquidtight connections in industrial and commercial installations. This fitting features a wiremesh grip that locks onto the conduit, preventing pull-out and ensuring a tight seal against liquids, dust, and debris. It is part of ABB’s Installation Products line, a trusted manufacturer in electrical infrastructure solutions. This fitting is ideal for applications requiring flexible conduit routing while maintaining environmental protection. Common uses include machine tool wiring, control panels, outdoor enclosures, and hazardous location installations where moisture or particulate ingress must be prevented. The straight design simplifies installation in tight spaces or linear conduit runs, reducing the need for additional bends or fittings. The wiremesh grip provides mechanical strain relief, securing the conduit against vibration or mechanical stress, which is critical in dynamic industrial environments. The fitting is UL Listed (File No. E23018) and CSA Certified (File No. 2884 & 4484) for reliability and safety in electrical installations.

How to Install T&B Liquidtight Connectors with Grips

This guide provides instructions for the proper installation of T&B liquidtight connectors with grips on flexible metallic conduit, ensuring high performance and reliability.

Estimated time: 15m

Tools needed:

Hacksaw (32 teeth/inch, no set), Power band saw (24-32 teeth/inch, wavy set), Flat nose pliers, Torque wrench

Supplies needed:

T&B Liquidtight Connector with Grip, Flexible metallic conduit, Locknut (for knockout applications), Sealing O-ring (for knockout applications)

  1. Cut the Flexible Conduit

Cut the flexible conduit with a clean, square end cut. Use a sharp hacksaw (32 teeth/inch, no set) or a power band saw (24-32 teeth/inch, wavy set, not more than 400 surface feet per minute). CAUTION: Do not use an abrasive wheel.

  2. Slide Grip and Gland Nut onto Conduit

Slide the grip with the gland nut assembly onto the conduit. If installing at maximum cord diameter, preform the endless weave mesh by carefully forming loops round with flat nose pliers.

  3. Slide Sealing Ring onto Conduit

Slide the one-piece sealing ring onto the conduit.

  4. Screw Ground Cone into Conduit

Screw the Safe-Edge® steel grounding cone into the conduit tightly.

  5. Seat Sealing Ring

Push the sealing ring towards the ground cone and firmly seat it into the ground cone flange.

  6. Insert Ground Cone into Connector Body

Insert the ground cone, with the conduit and sealing ring attached, into the connector body.

  7. Tighten Gland Nut

Push the end of the grip along the conduit toward the connector body and screw the gland nut onto the body. Tighten the gland nut to the torque specified in the torque table provided in the product documentation (e.g., 200 lb-in for 3/8", 300 lb-in for 1/2", etc.) using a torque wrench. After tightening, verify that the grip is laying flat and fully extended along the conduit.
