1-1/2 Inch Bullet Hub Connector, Malleable Iron with Dura Plate Finish, Nylon Insulated, For Use with Rigid/IMC ConduitHow to Install T&B Liquidtight Flexible Metallic Conduit Connectors with Grips
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of T&B Liquidtight connectors with grips, ensuring high performance and reliability for flexible metallic conduit connections.
Estimated time: 20m
Tools needed:
Hacksaw (32 Tooth/In no set, sharp), Power band saw (24-32 Tooth/ln. wavy set, not more than 400/sfpm, for high production), Flat nose pliers, Torque wrench
Supplies needed:
T&B Liquidtight Flexible Metallic Conduit Connector, Liquidtight flexible metallic conduit, T&B 140 Series locknuts (for knockout applications), T&B 5262 Series sealing o-rings (for knockout applications)
- Cut Flexible Conduit
Cut the flexible conduit with a clean, square end cut. Ensure you are using metal liquid tight conduit. For optimal results, use a 32 Tooth/In no set, sharp hacksaw, or for high production, a 24-32 Tooth/ln. wavy set power band saw (not exceeding 400 surface feet per minute). CAUTION: Do not use an abrasive wheel for cutting.
- Slide Grip and Gland-Nut onto Conduit
Slide the grip assembly, which includes the gland-nut, onto the cut end of the conduit. If installing at maximum cord diameter, facilitate the process by slightly preforming the endless weave mesh; use flat nose pliers to carefully form each loop round.
- Slide Sealing Ring onto Conduit
Slide the one-piece sealing ring onto the conduit, positioning it after the grip and gland-nut assembly.
- Screw Ground Cone into Conduit
Screw the Safe-Edge® steel grounding cone into the conduit tightly. Ensure it is firmly seated.
- Seat Sealing Ring
Push the sealing ring towards the ground cone and ensure it is fully seated into the ground cone flange, creating a secure seal.
- Insert Ground Cone into Connector Body
Insert the assembled ground cone, with the seated sealing ring, into the main body of the T&B Liquidtight connector.
- Secure Gland Nut and Grip
Push the end of the grip along the conduit toward the connector body and screw the gland nut onto the body. Tighten the gland nut to the specified torque using a torque wrench (refer to the torque table in the product documentation for specific trade sizes). After tightening, verify that the grip is laying flat and fully extended out along the conduit. For knockout applications, secure the connector to the box using T&B 140 Series locknuts and 5262 Series sealing o-rings (purchased separately) on the outside of the box.
