Hacksaw (32 teeth/inch), Power band saw (24-32 teeth/inch), Metal jig (optional), Standard screwdriver, Hammer, Torque wrench
Supplies needed:
5332SST6 liquid-tight fitting, Liquid-tight flexible metallic conduit, LNSS/050 locknut (for 1/2" NPT knockout applications), 5262 seal gasket (for 1/2" NPT knockout applications)
- Prepare Flexible Metallic Conduit
Cut the end of the flexible conduit with a clean, square cut. Use a metal jig and a sharp hacksaw (32 teeth/inch) or a power band saw (24-32 teeth/inch, not exceeding 400 feet/minute). Do not use an abrasive wheel.
- Assemble Fitting Components onto Conduit
Slide the gland nut onto the cut end of the flexible conduit. Next, slide the nylon sealing ring onto the conduit. Finally, thread the SAFE-EDGE® ground cone onto the conduit, ensuring it is properly seated.
- Mount Fitting to Enclosure and Secure Locknut
Insert the fitting's threaded body through the knockout or threaded opening in the box wall. For knockout applications, place the 5262 seal gasket against the box wall on the outside, then secure the fitting with the LNSS/050 locknut on the inside. Hand-tighten the locknut, then further tighten it 1/4 turn using a hammer and a standard screwdriver.
- Tighten Gland Nut for Liquid-Tight Seal
Tighten the gland nut (Part No. 5262) to the recommended UL value of 300 lb-in (33.9 N-m) to ensure a liquid-tight and dust-tight installation. Use a torque wrench for precise tightening.
