What standard do the interfaces comply with?
The interfaces are compliant with IEEE 386.
What are the voltage ratings for the loadbreak elbow?
The Elastimold 200 amp loadbreak elbow is available for 15 kV and 25 kV series systems.
What is the amperage rating of the product?
The Elastimold loadbreak elbows and bushing inserts are rated for 200 amps.
What safety features do the loadbreak elbows have?
They are fully shielded with improved insulation, have rigid probe support, a molded-in rubber-encapsulated stainless-steel pulling eye, and dual grounding eye positions.
Can the loadbreak elbow be ordered with a test point?
Yes, the loadbreak elbow is available with or without a capacitive test point.
What material is the housing made from for durability?
The housing is made from 100% peroxide-cured EPDM for lasting durability.
Can the bushing inserts operate when submerged?
Yes, the Elastimold 200 amp bushing inserts are designed for exceptional performance under harsh conditions, including being fully submerged.
How do the bushing inserts indicate voltage class?
They use a color-coded PBT interface shield: red for 15 kV, blue for 25 kV, and black for 35 kV class.
What is the purpose of the vented ring design?
The patented vented ring design (for 25 kV and 35 kV classes) prevents partial vacuum flashover during switching operations.
Are the bushing inserts compatible with existing systems?

How to Install Elastimold 375LR/376LR Loadbreak Elbow Connectors
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the safe installation and initial setup of Elastimold 375LR and 376LR loadbreak elbow connectors, including cable preparation and assembly.
Estimated time: 1h
Tools needed:
Cable cutting tool, Wire strippers, Wire brush, Crimp tool, Probe wrench, Hotstick (for subsequent operation)
Supplies needed:
Elbow Connector Housing, Compression Lug, Probe, Lubricant (Do Not Substitute), UD cable, Copper wire (No. 14 AWG / 2.5mm), Appropriate grounding connector, HV insulated cap(s) or connector(s)
- Perform Pre-Installation Checks and Safety Procedures
DANGER: Ensure all apparatus is de-energized during installation or removal of parts. Inspect all components for damage, proper rating, and compatibility with mating parts. Check package contents for completeness. Thread the probe into the compression lug to ensure proper fit and check for resistance. Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning and have all required tools at hand. If the product is supplied with protective shipping covers, remove them and replace with appropriate HV insulated caps or connectors before submerging or energizing the circuit.
- Train and Cut Cable
Train the UD cable as shown in the documentation to ease future operation. Cut any excess cable squarely at the center line of the bushing, ensuring a minimum of 20 inches beyond the end of the cable pad mount transformer.
- Prepare the Cable End
Unwrap and bind the concentric neutral wires 8-1/2 inches back from the end of the cable. Carefully remove the shield and insulation from the cable end, cutting squarely and taking care not to nick the conductor. Wire brush the bare aluminum conductors and immediately install the compression lug. Rotate the lug to spread the inhibitor and position it so the contact threaded hole aligns with the bushing bore. Crimp the lug according to the crimp chart, starting at the crimp line mark and rotating 180 degrees for each successive crimp. Carefully wipe any excessive inhibitor from the outside of the lug and cable. Remove the insulation shield as shown in the cable cut-back template and bevel the insulation end a maximum of 1/8 inch. Thoroughly clean the insulation to remove all traces of conductive residue.
- Assemble the Elbow Connector
Lubricate the cable insulation and the inside of the elbow housing with the supplied lubricant. DO NOT SUBSTITUTE other lubricants, as they may be harmful. Keep the insulation clean of dirt and grime. Slide the elbow connector onto the cable using a back-and-forth twisting motion. Wipe off any excess grease. Align the elbow with the compression lug's threaded hole. Thread the probe into the lug by hand, being careful not to cross-thread. The probe should turn freely for approximately four turns before becoming snug. Tighten the probe with the probe wrench until the wrench bends.
- Connect the Concentric Neutral
Using a separate copper wire (No. 14 AWG / 2.5mm) or equivalent, insert one end through the grounding eye on the elbow. Twist it tight, taking care not to damage the eye. Twist all neutral wires together and connect them to ground using an appropriate connector. Ensure adequate slack in the wires to allow for elbow operation.
- Connect Elbow to Bushing Plug (De-energized)
Lubricate the receptacle portion of the elbow connector and the mating bushing with the supplied lubricant. IMPORTANT: Only lubricate if the transformer and elbow are known to be DE-ENERGIZED. Do not operate by hand; use a hotstick for connection as per operating instructions once the system is ready for energized operation. Ensure the area is clear of obstructions before making the connection.
