How to Assemble the S2MFBC Flex.Base
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the mechanical assembly and electrical earthing of the S2MFBC Flex.Base, a free-standing base for suspension systems and HMI devices. It includes optional installations for weights, castors, or adjustable feet.
Estimated time: 1h
Tools needed:
Torque wrench, Screwdrivers (for M5, M8, M12 screws), Wrenches (for M8, M12 screws), Wire strippers
Supplies needed:
Adapter plate (e.g., S2MSYSAPG), Earthing wire and components, M5, M8x20, M12x12, M5x40, M5x10 screws, Optional weights, Closure plate, Optional castors or adjustable feet, Cables and strain relief
- Mount the Adapter Plate
Before starting, ensure the power supply is disconnected and suitable protective measures are in place. Only qualified electricians and trained fitters should perform this installation. Securely screw the appropriate adapter plate (e.g., S2MSYSAPG) to the Flex.Base using M8x20 and M12x12 screws. Tighten all screws to a torque of 12 Nm. Ensure the mounting surface is flat, even, and sufficiently load-bearing.
- Install the Protective Earthing System
Install the protective conductor system. Connect the earthing screws (M5) to the Flex.Base and tighten to 2 Nm. For customer connections, tighten to 1.5 Nm. Ensure all earthing cross-sections are sufficiently dimensioned and that the protective conductor system is properly designed according to VDE 0100. Mounting or electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Do not damage seals during installation. Attention: Risk of electric shock!
- Connect the Suspension System
Connect your suspension system or stand column to the installed adapter plate. Ensure all connections are secure and meet the specified load requirements. Refer to the respective valid technical data sheets for further load-bearing system specifications.
- Install Optional Stability Weights
If additional stability is required, install up to four optional weights. Screw each weight into position using 2x M5x40 self-tapping screws. Tighten these screws to a torque of 5 Nm.
- Install the Closure Plate
Insert the closure plate into its designated position. Fasten the plate using 8x M5x10 screws. Tighten these screws to a torque of 3 Nm.
- Mount Optional Castors or Adjustable Feet
For mobility or leveling, mount the optional castors or adjustable feet. For adjustable feet, tighten to a maximum of 5 Nm, ensuring a minimum screw depth of 10 mm. If using castors, ensure that the selected cable lengths allow for movement and provide appropriate strain relief to prevent stretching or distortion of outgoing cables. Attention: Provide appropriate strain relief!
