#2 Phillips screwdriver, T10 Torx screwdriver, 2.5mm hex key Allen wrench
Supplies needed:
PDU mounting hardware (e.g., mounting buttons, cage nuts, screws), Ground bonding cable
- Mount the PDU in the Rack
For vertical PDUs, insert the pre-installed mounting buttons into the keyhole slots on the rack's PDU mounting bracket. Secure with a #2 Phillips screwdriver to 3.0 Nm. For horizontal PDUs, install cage nuts at desired U locations on front and rear rails. Screw mounting bracket ears into front RETMA rail. For high-power units, also screw rear bracket ears into rear RETMA rail. Screw front mounting brackets to PDU chassis with a 2.5mm hex key Allen wrench. Ensure 2-3 inches clearance for airflow and seal unused rack spaces with blanking panels.
- Ground the PDU
Connect a ground bonding cable from the external ground bonding point on the PDU chassis to a known earthed reference terminal in the building, a grounding strip, or a grounding bus bar in the rack. Use the external earthing screw with a star washer for supplementary Earth bonding to the rack metalwork. WARNING: Ensure the conductor size meets national or local electrical codes (e.g., NEC Table 250.122). This installation must be performed by qualified personnel.
- Connect the PDU to a Power Source
WARNING: This PDU contains lethal voltages. Only qualified personnel should perform this step. Turn OFF the feed circuit breaker for the branch circuit. Verify all PDU circuit breakers are ON. Connect the PDU's input power cord to an appropriately rated, grounded (earthed) branch circuit electrical outlet. Ensure the outlet is accessible and provides overcurrent protection. Turn ON the feed circuit breaker. Wait for the operating system to load until the Main Menu displays.
- Optional: Rotate the Network Controller
If a specific orientation of the physical ports is preferred, use a T10 Torx screwdriver to remove the two retaining screws from the network controller. Carefully disconnect the ribbon cable from the controller to prevent damage. Rotate the controller to the desired orientation. Carefully reconnect the ribbon cable, paying attention to connector orientation and avoiding crimping or pinching.
