- Prepare for Installation and Select Fitting
WARNING: Disconnect all power before beginning installation to prevent electrical shock. CAUTION: This product must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with all national and local electrical codes. Select the appropriate Star Teck Extreme STE150GRL fitting that is compatible with your enclosure and the specific armored cable being used.
- Prepare the Armored Cable
Determine the required working length of the conductors inside the enclosure. Carefully remove a section of the cable's outer jacket to expose the armor. Using a hacksaw, cut the exposed armor and trim the outer jacket to match the strip length specified in the fitting's table (refer to Figure 1 and Figure 2). CAUTION: Exercise extreme care to avoid nicking or cutting the conductor insulation.
- Feed Cable into the Gland Funnel
Insert the prepared armored cable into the gland funnel entry of the fitting. Push the cable firmly until the cable armor makes full contact with the internal armor stop (Figure 3). Correct positioning is crucial for ensuring proper cable armor grounding.
- Optional: Remove Armor Stop (If Necessary)
If the inner conductor bundle is too large to pass through the fitting with the armor stop in place, unscrew and remove the armor stop (Figure 6). After removing the armor stop, repeat Step 3 to feed the cable through the gland funnel entry.
- Tighten the Gland Nut for a Secure Seal
Tighten the gland nut until a proper seal is achieved, or to the maximum torque value specified in the fitting's table (refer to Figure 4). Confirm that the bushing and collar ring create an even seal around the cable’s outer jacket and are flush with the glandnut face (Figure 5). Maintain the cable in a centered position to achieve an optimal and watertight seal.
