How to Install the K1601WJ3 Loadbreak Well Junction
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for mounting and preparing the K1601WJ3 Loadbreak Well Junction for operation. Ensure all safety precautions are followed during installation.
Estimated time: 1h 30m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers
Supplies needed:
Mounting bolts (user-supplied, 17/32" or 13mm diameter), Grounding wire (No. 10 Solid to No. 1 Stranded), Lubricant (supplied), Elastimold insulated caps or plugs (if applicable), Bushings (not included)
- Prepare for Installation and Mark Mounting Locations
DANGER: De-energize all apparatus before starting installation. This product must be installed only by competent personnel trained in high voltage electrical equipment safety practices. Inspect the package contents to confirm all parts are present and undamaged. Loosely attach the universal mounting brackets to the junction base bracket. Position the assembly against the desired mounting surface (flat or curved) and adjust for proper alignment. Mark the exact locations for the mounting brackets on the wall.
- Mount the Universal Brackets
Detach the universal mounting brackets from the junction base bracket. Securely mount the brackets on the wall using user-supplied bolts (17/32” or 13mm diameter) at the marked locations. If needed, invert one or both brackets to achieve the correct bolt center distance.
- Fasten and Adjust the Junction Assembly
With the universal mounting brackets firmly in place, fasten the junction's base bracket to them, ensuring the parking stands are upright. Adjust the junction's mounting angle to your desired position, which can be 0° to 90° above or below horizontal in 15° increments. Securely tighten all bolts to prevent any movement of the junction during operation.
- Ground the Base Bracket
Connect a grounding wire (No. 10 Solid to No. 1 Stranded) to the provided grounding lug on the base bracket. Ensure a secure and proper ground connection.
- Prepare and Install Bushings
Remove any protective caps from the bushing wells and inspect them for dryness and contaminants. Lubricate the well interface area using only the supplied lubricant or an Elastimold approved lubricant. Do not use substitute lubricants. Install the appropriate bushings into the wells, strictly following their individual installation instructions.
- Final Safety Check Before Energization
Remove any remaining protective shipping caps from all operating interfaces and clean them thoroughly. Apply silicone lubricant (DO NOT SUBSTITUTE) to all operating interfaces before connecting any other ELASTIMOLD product. WARNING: Any unused operating interfaces MUST be fitted with an Elastimold insulated cap or insulated plug BEFORE energization. Protective shipping covers are not insulated and must NOT be used for this purpose.
