- Prepare for Installation and Ground the Device
Ensure all apparatus is de-energized before beginning installation. Inspect all parts for damage, proper rating, and compatibility. Insert a No. 14 copper ground lead or equivalent into the grounding lug provided on the mounting hardware and tighten the lug. Connect the opposite end of the ground lead to a suitable ground, leaving enough slack to operate with a hotstick.
- Prepare Bushing Wells and Install Bushings
Remove any protective shipping caps from the bushing wells. Inspect the bushing wells to ensure they are dry and free from all contaminants. Lubricate the well interface area with the supplied lubricant or an ELASTIMOLD approved lubricant; do not substitute. Install the bushings into the wells following the installation instructions included with the bushing.
- Mount the Feed-Thru to a Parking Stand
Firmly attach the feed-thru eye to a hotstick. Using the hotstick, slide the feed-thru onto the parking stand. Unlock the hotstick and back it off slightly to allow space for the eyebolt to be tightened. Tighten the eyebolt by rotating the hotstick clockwise until snug; do not overtighten. Release the hotstick.
- Perform Final Safety Checks Before Energizing
Before energizing the circuit, ensure all operating interfaces are clean and lubricated. If any operating interfaces are not utilized, install an ELASTIMOLD insulated cap or insulated plug. Do not use the protective shipping covers for this function as they are not insulated and are only intended to keep the operating interface surfaces clean during handling and installation.
