How to Install a 5356SST6HT Liquid-Tight Flexible Metallic Conduit Fitting
This guide provides instructions for assembling and installing a 5356SST6HT stainless steel liquid-tight fitting for flexible metallic conduit, including proper conduit preparation and tightening procedures.

Screwdriver, Hammer, Hacksaw, Metal jig (optional), Power band saw (optional)
Supplies needed:
5356SST6HT Liquid-Tight Fitting, Liquid-tight flexible metal conduit, Seal Gasket (Part No. 5266), Locknut (Part No. LNSS/150)
- Prepare the Flexible Conduit
Cut the end of the flexible conduit with a clean, square cut. Use a metal jig and a sharp hacksaw with 32 teeth/inch, or a power band saw with 24-32 teeth/inch for high production. Do not use an abrasive wheel.
- Assemble Fitting Components onto Conduit
Slide the gland nut onto the prepared conduit, followed by the nylon sealing ring. Then, thread the SAFE-EDGE® ground cone onto the conduit end.
- Install Fitting into Box Wall
Insert the threaded body of the fitting through the desired opening in the box wall. Place the seal gasket (Part No. 5266) against the box wall on the inside, then thread the locknut (Part No. LNSS/150) onto the fitting body.
- Secure the Locknut
Hand-tighten the locknut, then further tighten it by 1/4 turn using a hammer and a standard screwdriver, or an equivalent method. The recommended torque for the LNSS/150 locknut is 190 lb-in (21.5 N-m).
- Secure the Gland Nut
Tighten the gland nut onto the fitting body to the UL recommended value. For the 5356SST6HT fitting, the recommended tightening torque is 1,200 lb-in (136 N-m).
