How to Install a Push-in Liquidtight Flexible Metal Conduit Fitting

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of a push-in liquidtight flexible metal conduit fitting, ensuring a secure and liquidtight connection. This product must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code or Canadian Electrical Code. Disconnect power before installation to avoid risk of shock.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Hacksaw, Band saw, Torque wrench

Supplies needed:

Liquidtight flexible metal conduit, 5262 series sealing rings (for knockout applications)

  1. Prepare the Conduit

Using a sharp hacksaw or band saw, cut the liquidtight flexible metal conduit, ensuring the end cut is clean and square. Carefully remove any burrs or frayed material from the cut edge to prevent damage to the fitting.

  2. Pre-assemble the Fitting

Do not disassemble the fitting. Lightly spin the Gland Nut clockwise until you feel minor resistance. This indicates the Sealing Ring and Ground Cone chamfer are in contact and the fitting is ready for conduit insertion.

  3. Insert the Conduit

Align the conduit and carefully push it onto the exposed end of the Ground Cone. Once the conduit begins to enter the Sealing Ring, firmly push it completely in until it bottoms out. To verify full insertion, mark the conduit at the specified depth (refer to the documentation's table for your conduit's trade size) from the cut end; this mark should be level with the top of the sealing ring when fully inserted. Do not pull back on the conduit once it is fully inserted. Ensure full insertion for proper performance.

  4. Tighten the Gland Nut

Using a torque wrench, tighten the Gland Nut to the specified torque value for your conduit's trade size (refer to the documentation's table). Ensure the fitting is fully torqued for proper performance and a liquidtight seal.
