Overview

The ABB 5251-PT is a 3/8 Inch Malleable Iron Liquidtight Push-in Connector designed for secure and reliable conduit connections in industrial applications. Manufactured by ABB - Installation Products, this non-insulated connector offers a robust solution for managing electrical wiring. Its malleable iron construction ensures durability and resistance to environmental factors, making it suitable for demanding settings. The push-in connection type simplifies installation, allowing for quick and efficient assembly without the need for specialized tools or extensive training. This feature significantly reduces labor time and costs on job sites. The 3/8 inch size is ideal for standard conduit runs, providing a secure interface for liquidtight conduit systems. This connector is engineered to maintain the integrity of liquidtight enclosures, preventing the ingress of liquids and dust, which is crucial for maintaining operational safety and equipment longevity. The non-insulated design is appropriate for applications where electrical insulation is provided by the conduit itself or by other components in the system. ABB's commitment to quality is evident in the construction of this connector, ensuring it meets the functional requirements of industrial electrical installations. SKU: 5251-PT. How to Install a Push-in Liquidtight Flexible Metal Conduit Fitting (5251-PT Series)

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing a 5251-PT series push-in liquidtight flexible metal conduit fitting. Ensure to use only UL 360 and CSA C22.2 No. 56 compliant conduit. Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician to prevent risk of shock or injury.

Estimated time: 15m

Tools needed:

Sharp hacksaw, Band saw, Torque wrench

Supplies needed:

Liquidtight flexible metal conduit

  1. Prepare the Conduit

Using a sharp hacksaw or band saw, cut the liquidtight flexible metal conduit, ensuring the end cut is clean and square. Carefully remove any burrs or frayed material from the cut edge.

  2. Prepare the Fitting

Do not disassemble the fitting. Lightly spin the Gland Nut clockwise until you feel minor resistance, indicating that the Sealing Ring and Ground Cone chamfer are in contact.

  3. Insert Conduit into Fitting

Align the prepared conduit with the exposed end of the Ground Cone. Carefully push the conduit into the fitting. Once the conduit begins to enter the Sealing Ring, firmly push it completely until it bottoms out. To verify full insertion, refer to the product documentation for the specific conduit insert depth for your trade size and ensure the conduit is inserted to that depth. Do not pull back on the conduit once it is fully inserted.

  4. Secure the Gland Nut

Using a torque wrench, tighten the Gland Nut to the specified torque value for your conduit's trade size. Refer to the product documentation for the exact torque values (e.g., 3/8" = 200 lbs-in, 1/2" = 300 lbs-in, 3/4" = 500 lbs-in, 1" = 700 lbs-in). Ensure the fitting is fully torqued for proper performance.
