How to Install the 5233-PT Push-in Liquidtight Flexible Metal Conduit Fitting
Instructions for installing and securing a 5233-PT push-in liquidtight flexible metal conduit fitting.
Estimated time: 15m
Tools needed:
Hacksaw or band saw, Measuring tape
Supplies needed:
5233-PT fitting, Liquidtight flexible metal conduit
- Prepare the Conduit
Cut the conduit using a sharp hacksaw or band saw, ensuring the end cut is clean and square. Remove any burrs or frayed material from the cut edge.
- Insert the Conduit into the Fitting
Align and carefully push the conduit onto the exposed end of the ground cone. Once the end of the conduit has started into the throat of the sealing ring, firmly push the conduit completely in until it bottoms out. To ensure the conduit bottoms out, mark the conduit from the cut end at the depth specified in the table (refer to document for specific depths based on trade size). When fully inserted, the mark should be level to the top of the sealing ring. Do not pull back on the conduit once it is fully inserted.
- Tighten the Gland Nut
Torque the gland nut to the specified value according to the trade size of the conduit. Refer to the documentation for the exact torque values (e.g., 3/8" conduit requires 200 lbs.-in.). Ensure the fitting is fully torqued for proper performance.
- Verify Installation
Ensure the conduit is fully inserted and the gland nut is properly torqued. For threaded enclosure applications, the fitting may be installed first, followed by the conduit attachment. For knockout applications, use appropriate sealing rings to ensure a liquidtight seal between the fitting and the enclosure.
