How to Install the Side-Mount Filter Fans and Grilles
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing side-mount filter fans and grilles on an enclosure.

Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Drill, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Cutout template
- Prepare the enclosure
Apply the cutout template to the desired location on the side of the enclosure.
- Cut the opening
Cut out the hole in the enclosure according to the template using an appropriate cutting tool.
- Deburr the edges
Deburr the cutting edge of the hole to ensure a smooth finish and avoid injury.
- Insert the fan or grille
Push the fan or grille into the opening until all four corners snap and lock into place.
- Secure with fasteners
If the enclosure material thickness is between 0.10 and 0.14 inches, install mounting fasteners. For thickness greater than 0.14 inches, fasteners are required.
- Remove the grille for fastener installation
If using fasteners, remove the grille by pulling it from the top at a 45° angle, then from the bottom.
- Drill mounting holes if necessary
If required, drill out the mounting holes in the filter housing using a 1/8 inch drill bit for model HF04 or a 5/32 inch drill bit for models HF05, HF09, HF10, and HF13.
- Torque the fasteners
Torque the fasteners to 20-25 in-lbs (2.3-2.8 Nm) to ensure a secure fit.
- Reinstall the grille
Reinstall the grille by pushing it back into place until it snaps securely.
- Verify clearance
Ensure that the installed filter fan has a minimum clearance of 7.00 inches (178 mm) from any obstruction.
- Wire the filter fan
Follow the wire diagrams provided in the manual to connect the filter fan to the power supply.
