Overview

The nVent F44LA Telescope Fitting Lay-In Hinged Cover (SKU: F44LA) is a precision-engineered wireway accessory designed for industrial cable management systems. This 4.00 x 4.00 inch fitting features a telescopic design that adjusts seamlessly from 1.00 inch (25 mm) to 7.00 inches (178 mm) without cutting or welding, eliminating on-site fabrication delays. The hinged cover provides secure containment of wires while enabling quick access for maintenance or future expansions. Constructed from durable steel with a gray ANSI 61 polyester powder paint finish, the F44LA meets NEMA Type 1 and UL 870/cUL C22.2 No. 26 standards for protection against dust and light environmental exposure. Its lay-in design simplifies cable installation by allowing wires to be placed without pulling, reducing insulation damage risk. Compatible with standard 4x4 wireway systems, this fitting integrates with nVent's F40 series components including elbows, tees, and straight sections. Ideal for manufacturing plants, data centers, power generation facilities, and transportation hubs where efficient wire routing and system adaptability are critical. The F44LA reduces installation labor time by up to 40% compared to traditional methods while maintaining long-term reliability in demanding industrial environments.

How to Install the Lay-In Wireway

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and sealing a Lay-In Wireway for electrical wiring.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Drill, Wrench

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Gaskets, Nuts, Sealing plates

  1. Assemble the wireway sections

Place a gasket between the flanges of the wireway sections and secure them using screws and nuts as shown in the assembly details.

  2. Seal the joints

For joints between lay-in sections, position the LSGQR fitting, leaving out the top flange screw on the hinge side. Install with a shoulder bolt and ensure gaskets are visible from above.

  3. Install box entries

Make a cutout in the control enclosure as specified. Position the box connector and gasket inside the enclosure, then install a sealing plate as described in the instructions.

  4. Adjust telescope fitting

Assemble the compression ring, gasket, and retainer on the telescope fitting. Insert the body into the straight section and adjust to the desired length.

  5. Anchor telescope fitting

If the telescope fitting is used vertically, drill .25 inch diameter holes through the sides and bottom of the straight section and telescope fitting. Install .25-20x.5 screws and secure with cap nuts.

  6. Calibrate and verify installation

After installation, verify that all joints are sealed properly and that the wireway is securely mounted. Check for grounding continuity if applicable.
